I think that was a statement made by someone else on Carl’s behalf, after his death, as a description of his mindset. Either way, it’s a really bad quote because it paints this picture (whether intended or not) that belief in the absence of certainty is bad... which it isn’t. I recognize that knowledge doesn’t actually require absolute certainty, but considering that knowledge is a subset of belief, pitting them against each other gives that impression (that beliefs can only be the result of faith... which isn’t accurate). My interpretation here might be overly philosophical and pedantic, but the impression given I think can be a universal harm to those that take this quote at face value. Point being: make sure your beliefs are supported by sufficient evidence and all is good.

LoL, people find it easier to use GOD as an excuse to not be responsible. They were taught to believe, so it's safer to go back to that security. Once they step into reality, they don't have any tools to defend themselves. They were never given any tools to cope with reality. They don't want to be RESPONSIBLE. It's sad that people will choose to live their lives scared of going to hell and not one person walking on this planet has proven that there is a hell in the biblical sense. People will choose to fight the "right fight" just to be right. So when the topic of religion comes up and I say I don't believe until tangible proof is provided and I'm told something ridiculous like you need to believe, have faith blah, blah, blah... I become responsible by saying anything is possible or I don't know. But when I hear people using the Bible as proof, I simply ask " are you willing to throw your children in a pit of fire because your Bible is the word of God and it says to do so? Well, the moral of the story is you can't out do crazy so why bother. Life is to short to be weighted down by fears of a man made scare tactic. Grow some balls and question everything. @@Krikenemp18I heard a Christian minister once say that before the “Fall” serpents had legs, and then after the temptation of Eve and Adam, that’s when God cursed the serpent to crawl on its belly. It was one of those okie dokie, I’m out of here, moments for me.

@@MIKENIKEDOG I noticed that too. First he was real salty about saying "you're talking to both of us. this isn't a show where you're going to get one host". It seemed like a dig on Atheist Experience and Matt. when he puffed his chest It was almost like a "fuck you this is my show" to Matt . Then it seemed like the rest of the show he tried to compete with Matt. Very unlikable. Matt is very good at getting his point across and the whole idea is to make people wake up and see what they believe in is horseshit. So if you're not as good as Matt don't take offense and let him talk especially when the caller calls in to talk to Matt specifically. Although now that I'm thinking about it Eric, and his ego, thinks he's as good or better than Matt which explains his behavior.

I wish they would've just muted his mic after that without even telling him so we could actually hear the conversation that Matt was trying to have with the caller. I had a friend, years ago, that used to say, "If you believe it, it's true...to you." The trouble is, If you believe something is true because of physical proof, then it is tangible. If you believe something because you want it to be true, then that is wishful-thinking and that is faith.
