Currently using two TWSBI pens, one an EF with Platinum carbon ink, and the other with a 1.1 mm stub nib that i use colorful/dual toned inks. I need a very fine nib for everyday writing. The stub nib though gives me more expression and line variation for more creative writing than a medium or broad nib. The 1.1mm stub is also thin enough to be usable when writing small.

Thanks for the intro, Daisy! Watching you struggle to write with the stub though I couldn't help but think that perhaps an easier entry point for folks wanting to explore line variation would be an italic nib. 😅

You should have someone from the store who does calligraphy do a short demo. Stub nibs are great! The smaller ones are great for making ordinary handwriting look a little more special. My very first fountain pen was a Sheaffer calligraphy pen with 3 nibs of different size. I still have it!

I agree. One detail left out here is that for calligraphy, the pen is often held in such a way that the nib is at a different angle rather than at 90 degrees, as demonstrated here.

I have two 1.1 stub nibs and a lot of calligraphy nibs. But the 1.1 stubs are doing a great job!

I feel like you are reading my mind... I recently have been researching and trying out stub nibs, then I open my youtube app to find this video! Thanks so much. So far I think stub nibs make my writing look very fancy.

i've switched out as many of the nibs as i can, or only get it with a stub option.
