I love these videos... and I was already a fair to middle level shooter when I took advantage of the Slingshot Mastery courses. Man! I learned so much... again... and again.

Safeguarding the fun really helps the learning process. The slingshot mastery course is beautiful.

One of the lessons I learned shooting Archery was the importance of FOLLOW THROUGH after the shot, and I haven't seen it addressed in any how to shoot a slingshot videos. Which is the subconscious tendency to anticipate the shot and relaxing one or both of your hands and/or the body position prematurely, also called peeking. The fix is to hold your entire hand and body positions until the shot hits the target. Then relax. Also allow a brief time interval between the shots. To allow the muscles to recover and your brain to process the prior shot. Don't hurry and instantly begin reloading for the next shot thus blurring all the shots together!

That is a matter of personal preference and is not as important as the speed shooters have proven.

Excellent video. Having fun and, getting outside. Especially now that the snow is (almost) gone! Question though. Noticing in the wind that my flatbands really vibrate a lot at full draw. Seems to really sap the energy at release so the projectile falls quite short of the target. Would tubular "bands" vibrate less in the wind?
@simpleshot3 жыл бұрын
Possible. But flats will generally (yes, generally) shoot faster and flatter than tubes. Set this goal for yourself: work on a faster release. Drawing and holding decreases energy (not terribly, but more in cold weather) no matter what! A quick release will always come in faster!

One thing I have learned and learned again... all skills are perishable... you have to keep them fresh with consistent practice.

What is your suggestion for my first beginner slingshot? The Ocularis or ???
@simpleshot3 жыл бұрын
The Axiom Ocularis, Scout XT and Scout LT are all great starter frames.

You know slingshots very well, physics, not so much. "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction" has nothing to do with drawing the bands. Drawing the bands is related to conservation of energy, not equal/opposite reaction. When you draw the bands you are "storing" energy in the bands. When you release, that stored energy is released and imparted into the projectile. Equal/opposite reaction happens when you release the projectile, and as it accelerates forward, there is an equal/opposite force applied to the slingshot and thus your hand, "pushing" your slingshot back into your hand, and actually applying a rotational force to the slingshot, due to the angles involved with how you hold it with your hand. If you're gonna quote physics, maybe you should try to get it right? ;-) Other than that, your vids are good.

Bro Nathan is one of the worlds best. Don’t go hating on others videos. Everyone makes a mistakes and that’s part of life. Have a great day

@@hunternelson1215 I wasn't hating on him, since I do like the SimpleShot vids....but if you're gonna try to use physics to make a point, at least get it right! Passing on incorrect information is not cool, no matter who you are.

Thanks! You explain very well how Newton applies to the shot! 👊 Nathan didn’t touch on how it applied in this video, as you mention. Just gave a few physics topics to consider. We talk a lot about elongation and retraction in other videos! Thanks again!

We're all good here, folks. There's a misunderstanding on what Nathan said. he was just listing off things to consider, not explaining them. Newton's third is a factor. Lining up the draw with the frame hold. The release. Elongation and retraction . . . Just listing off physical factors of the shot. There wasn't an attempt to EXPLAIN how Newton applies here, just mentioning that the law (among plenty of other things NOT listed here) does help one understand how a slingshot works. We're all here for the same thing: learn to shoot better. Thanks for your input both of you and we don't think anyone's hating on Nathan (he can take it anyhow). :) Let's shoot and have fun! 👊
