Thanks Nathan! Just got my Ocularis and find using a “thumb down “ grip mimics my hold I use with my release shooting a compound bow. Also allows same anchor point. Looking forward to this new shooting challenge!

Unintentionally I have and continue to twist nearly 180° and have had no problems with accuracy. Good series Nathan.

I twist 90⁰ and forks up... it is due to the exact aforementioned reasons... accommodating lack of range of motion and securing a consistent anchor and release. I have to make my fingers close together and my thumb straight, kind-of like the ole dirty boxing trick. It ain't pretty but it eats cans. I kind of based of a combo of you and Nathan's style... at first it was unintential... then I studied good shooters.

Thanks Nathan. Good video. IMHO the anchor is a significant contributor to accuracy so anything that improves the consistency of the anchor is very valuable. So a little twist that is the same every shot should make for consistent shot placement.

Exactly. If it helps your anchor, do it!

I tried pouch twist, It worked but it was quite inaccurate for me
@josephlyons33936 ай бұрын
What I’ve noticed is that, when shooting downward, if you don’t twist your pouch, you’re more prone to the bands going up and over your index and having a speed bump. To avoid the speed bump when aiming downward, you have to unnaturally try to rotate your wrist down, which is uncomfortable for me. If I rotate the pouch 90 degrees, now, it doesn’t matter if I aim up, straight, or down, the pouch is free to rotate and self-align better.
@simpleshot6 ай бұрын
This can be different for all shooters. It sounds like you are not lined up correctly when shooting downward. Be sure to keep everything square.

I know that it may not be proven, but almost every time I try to shoot my Torque without any twist, I end up getting fork hits. For some reason, when I give it a 45 degree twist, I never get fork hits. I cannot figure out why. Either way, I am plenty accurate with a 45 degree twist so I just keep doing it. Thanks for all of the great videos.
@simpleshot Жыл бұрын
If you hit the top fork, you will want to raise your anchor point. If hitting the bottom fork, lower the anchor point. Speed bumping can also lead to fork hits.

I Started twisting my pouch 45 with a 90mm frame and found it much better for me with a more solid anchor thumbnail to corner of lip I guess you gotta try it to see :)

Thats right, our bodies are all different. What works well for one shooter may be very difficult for another shooter.

One of the worst thumb knuckle hits I got was with the twist. Everything g was going g fine, and I thought it was working to prevent frame hits, then out of the blue, wham! Obviously soemthing else was causing fork hits/thumb smash.

Ouch, hat when that happens!

@@simpleshot Yeah im thinking it has to do with the release- was much more deliberatly careful today- only had one fork hit-

Anything that twists the bands in any way will throw your shot off or possibly worse ..Everything needs to be in line and to move smoothly

Is it normal for the bands to break where the pouch is tied
@simpleshot Жыл бұрын
Yes, with tapered bands, that should be where they fail so if they fail at full draw, they snap towards you hand and not your face.

I normally twist a quarter turn, but after wording it wrong on your other video I tried a half twist; and it seemed to be more accurate with rocks than the quarter twist~ I'm sure sending rocks off with rifling makes them fly straighter.
@simpleshot3 жыл бұрын
We've been doing some slo-mo footage on this and so far we're seeing no rifling effect at all. It's remarkable how fast the ammo is ahead of the pouch altogether. But we didn't shoot rocks, so perhaps there's a difference there?
@jondoe-ki6rv3 жыл бұрын
@@simpleshot. I can understand why shooting marbles and ball bearings wouldn't make much difference with a straight shot. It looks to me like the odd angles of rocks catch wind and slide on it, often curving right past the target... When I send rocks out with a spin, I believe I hit more targets. I haven't subjected my hypothesis to scientific method, slow motion cameras, or speedometers; but until I see rocks being shot under those circumstances, I'll swear by twisting the pouch~
@ablesandoval49043 жыл бұрын
I've been shooting for 8 years and In my experience It only makes a difference when shooting ROCKS. They go straight when I twist. But Steele berrings, no it does not affect.

@@simpleshot thanks for replying I got a flipping pickle not so long ago I love it. I must admit, i know it's been said not to drill them and attach the clamps but I did and they work great. I'm not good at tying bands on,and like to swap out ammo and bands on the go so I thought id give them a go. On a cold morning Alan key is the way foward for me

We definitely DO NOT recommend drilling holes to accommodate clips.

Do you have any in depth videos on the “speed bump effect”? If not that’s a topic I’m sure many others would be interested in in top of myself. I recently blasted my pointer finger with a steel ball with my scout lt (it’s brown with brown scales, it looks a lot like yours lol) I was just shooting regularly and was really surprised when it happened because I feel as if I did everything the same as usual. After going through a couple bottles of ammo from you guys, I’ve had only maybe 2 fork hits with steel balls and feel fairly consistent, on top of being able to hit a decent size target from like 30 yards as well as some sniper shots when I’m lucky. Is it normal to get periodic fork or “finger” hits and could it be unavoidable? persay its the “speed bump effect”, or is it more likely to be my bands or grip etc My confidence has been a little bit lacking since the finger hit, it did some moderate damage.
@simpleshot3 жыл бұрын
Sure. And Nathan's course from slingshotmastery.com is honestly the BEST way to learn everything in one place. But here's another video on the speed bump: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6HGh6GBpN1mjc0
@mrmaldoon83623 жыл бұрын
I hear you. I literally shot for 3 to 4 hours a day a couple years ago. Ive been lucky not hitting my hand but when a fork hit happens and you feel like you had a good release it can mess with your mind. For me another 10,000 shots wont necessarily make a difference in confidence. Spring is here so its time to test that out. Good luck and happy shooting.
@OutdoorAlchemy5 ай бұрын
You can always shoot clays or rubber ammo for a while. As far as a finger hit, I would choose the rubber ammo. Lighter bands and ammo helps me. I just get lazy and get caught once or twice a year
