9 жыл бұрын

After launching an internationally-recognized social media campaign, Noor is determined to achieve her dream of becoming the first hijabi anchor on commercial television in the United States. As she breaks down barriers, Noor Tagouri inspires others to do the same so that they can let their own light shine.
Since launching the viral #LetNoorShine campaign in 2012, Noor Tagouri has gained international attention as one of the country’s most talked about young adults. She has become an associate journalist for CBS Radio in Washington D.C, graduated from a top journalism school at 20, become a reporter in the DC metro area for CTV News and has traveled the globe as a motivational speaker. Noor has gained support for her efforts to break stereotypes and encouraging others to tackle their own potential. As a first generation Libyan-American, her passion for storytelling stems from the desire to expose cultural injustices and combat the challenges facing women. Tagouri’s extraordinary rise as a young journalist and budding cultural figure is proof of what can happen if we dare to ask the right questions.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

+anna john i don't care about your ignorant opinion, people like you are the reason Muslim women are so behing in the world. Do u see this hardworking young girl, drinking? taking drugs? sleeping with men? even taking off her hijab? ( & she should very well do that if she doesn't feel comfortable) No you don't, all she is doing is making a name for herself and working hard to have a great future! Alllah swt is the only one who knows what's in each of our hearts so you have no place to judge, and frankly you disgust me!

anna john . No one said what you wear represents your religion. What you believe represents your religion. So yes Noor is representing a Muslim woman. And by the way you are the one whose judging , you are the one who is pointing what the f she is wearing. Why are looking her outside , see her inside by the way she talks and what she is saying.

Stop cursing at her stop shaming her she is our sister in islam. we are not perfect we are deeply flawed. we have to love one another. how can we expect others to love Islam and Muslims when we can't even love eachother? if you see a fellow Muslim brother or sister doing somthing wrong pray for them. and be kind to one another

The problem is that people are actually seeing her as a good role model. This is what's happening. She doesn't isten. She is doing the wrong in public and therefore we have to speak about it in public. That's being said, we shouldn't call her names that are bad but she isn't a representation of us and she isn't wearing hijab nor she should act as she is.

@roven 08 stop creating FITNAH against our own brothers and sisters of Islam. Whatever flaws she made or did is between her and Allah swt. Who are we to judge others when WE are going to be judged by our CREATOR for our own actions one day. So repent and do good as soliciting with the SYAITAN will brings us no good but HARM.

first of all please stop cussing at her, have some shame, she is our sister in islam in the end and stop saying drop the hijab or leave islam, itaqi allah brothers & sisters, fear allah. second of all, i dare any of u to go educate your self properly about hijabi and come back talking about this girl is a hijabi, like it or not she isn't a hijab. hijab is from head to toe, not only head. the hijabs/niqabs job is to divert attention away from u, not bring attention to. its job is to cover your beauty. so there is nothing called fashion or hijabi model, because that goes against what the hijab does. so fear allah and stop talking out of your desires. and who does not practice islam, shouldn't talk about it, because they might misguide people more than they'll guide them, how can a person who didn't fully understand & learn about a subject in islam, come and start spreading half info about it? see this is one of the reasons u see a lot of the muslims doing it wrong, because rather than they go and listen to knowledgeable people who spend years in studying the deen, they went to their youtube role models to learn from them, fear allah. and third, in islam we don't have the ( its not of your business) each time someone wanted to advise or show others that this is wrong, u do not own islam so u be like its non of your business. we muslims should forbid whats wrong and do whats right. allah told us in the quran {and remind, for indeed reminder benefits the believers 51:55} and we do not have the ( don't judge him/her u dunno what's in their heart) there is a hadith for that and umar ibn al-Khattaab said: "treat people according to how they them appear & leave it to allah to take care whats in their hearts". i personally seen brothers and sisters walk with the wrong people or people who are doing it wrong & becoming like them or dress like them or talk like them or think like them. iv seen brothers end up smoking, drinking, stop praying etc etc. iv seen sisters started putting make-up or wearing what this sister is wearing which is not a hijab thinking it is a hijab or they started lacking haya without even feeling it. because some ignorant told them hey its fine don't judge people by their appearance u dunno whats in their heart. u need to understand we are human we do not know whats in peoples hearts, we can only see whats outside. see whats inside of u reflects on the outside, even if u try to hide it, it will show one day. if u tell me brothers who talk to girls or flirts or drinks or wear shorts that goes above the knee or sisters who wears clothes that show the body figure or fashion don't lack haya(modesty), then your a fool, because if the brother didnt lack haya (modesty) he wouldn't do it and if the sister didn't lack haya(modesty), she would cover properly because she would know that some brothers won't lower their gaze and they will check her out. but yet she choose to wear it not caring if brothers look. see brothers & sisters no matter how beautiful or cool u think u r, when u lack haya u automatically look ugly.

The non-Muslim champion female chess player is boycotting the championship next year because Iran is going to force all women, regardless of their Religion, to wear the Hijab. I respect that it is a decision for some people, but uneducated liberal hipsters should also stop parading around telling everyone that it is ALWAYS a choice either. It is not always a choice as it is not always oppression. There are tens of millions of women living in countries where their testimony counts for half of that of a man's and in Saudi Arabia, women are not allowed to drive cars. In more than 12 Muslim majority countries, the penalty for leaving Islam and becoming an Atheist is death. The penalty in many places for being gay is death. I agree with you, people who are ignorant on this issue should not talk about it. pamelageller.com/2016/09/worlds-top-female-chess-players-forced-to-wear-hijab-at-championship-in-iran.html/

I see questions here asking why she's wearing the hijab, but has on certain other clothing that seems inconsistent. Even in some parts of the Middle East, you'll see traditional Muslim garb combined with touches of Western wear. Being here in the West, it would make sense that she would too. Her top is still long that only her legs are showing, and they're covered, even though the pants are form-fitting.

Timoteo4 But no one questions why Muslim men in the East and West are scarcely identified as Muslims. Almost all as a whole wear Western ‘garb’ but are obsessed over women who at least identify as Muslims with a hijab! Instead of dissecting womens clothing they really need to question themselves if they have a long enough beard (not designer beards), if they are wearing the thawb to identify as Muslim or is their haircut adhering to the sunnah before playing the moral dress code police.
