Gawr Gura is... an experience. She doesn't even speak Japanese, but can sing it near perfectly. She's a Vtuber in the same crew as Calli, but she's been around for a LONG time before that as a different persona. She hit 1M subs on his first channel before even becoming a Vtuber idol. She's basically an old school nerd/shitposter that is VERY in tune with internet culture. Last I checked, she had the fastest growing YT channel EVER. Hololive is a huge rabbit hole of content that you never really get out of once you start down that path. Choose wisely.

Calli really does make music in a difficult niche. I can understand a lot of the skepticism from sfj because its a brutal blending of genres. For me personally im captivated by how unfamiliar the beats and poetic bars are. There is a ton of really good hiphop and rap that is faithful to the genre's roots so its nice to have a few artists out there always making something wild. Calli is still a young aritst tho and i think after more experiments and refining she could carve a path for this subgenre to get really big.
@flux_casey2 жыл бұрын
Mm. I've watched all of his reactions to Calli's stuff and the amount of times he's gone "I want her to rap over a trap beat". I mean, for one thing, she has, though she was a bit more hellish when she did it. But for another, isn't that a little boring? "Hey, this new and weird stuff you're doing is fine but I'd like it better if you did what everyone else in the game has been doing for the past decade or so." Respect to Scru for knowing what he likes, can't fault him for that. But I'd rather give it up for people trying new and novel ideas than something I could get from hundreds of other artists. Then again, just like Scru isn't big on the... "Kpop" sound, I'm really not a fan of trap beats. So maybe my desire for *literally anything else* makes me a little biased too. =P

@@zeanomourph1 In fairness, Scru never directly referred to Calli as Demondice, or vice versa, and I don't even think he mentioned the name 'Calli' in his Demondice reactions, just kinda insinuated like others have been doing. I do think it's unfortunate that he seems to *think* of them both as the same exact person, -- and while obviously that is technically true, one is a lot more of a character/avatar with a specific image she has to keep, whereas the other is much more loose and free to experiment -- so every time he hears Calli/Demondice's music, he compares the collective rather than the individual characters/personas. Just wanted to point out that he does at least seem to acknowledge the two characters' separation verbally most of the time, even if he gets a little ahead of himself and sees them as one person behind the screen/music, lol.

What I took away from this song is that the Stans have been a bit zealous recently. Don't bite the hand that feeds you( gives you content) when it's holding a knife (you'll get instabanned) guess you better gimme your life (basically gtfo). And Calli+Gura then joining hands in kicking the ass of the glowing red eyed deadbeats and shrimps. Gawr Gura, like gargoyle with a mouth full of water. Jean, you don't even know how close you are. Her character's a shark/girl from Atlantis who wanted to see what life was like outside of the ocean. For anyone curious, the proper pronunciation is "Gao" like you hear from Gura at the start of the song after Calli's bit. And before anyone hits the "mUh gRaMmEr nAzI" card, it was just an observation and addition to the original comment
@blackfirehedgehog77252 жыл бұрын
Calli has stated that this song was more for fun and didn't have much meaning, for what it's worth. But Calli being Calli, she still goes for all the rhymes lol. Definitely suits my taste in music, but I get it's not for everyone. I just realized I still haven't looked up the translated lyrics, I'll have to look for that. The "mouthful of water" comment is amusing to me because Gura's "lore" is basically her being an Atlantean shark girl. She hasn't made much music thus far (Reflect being her first original), but she's got an amazing singing voice.
