And parents thinking their students are safe. Wow! Two incidents in the same week!!! A murder at Rice University and now this? Come on Houston! Those students deserve better protection please🙏

For the first week or two, everything is very loosely-goosey. I lived in the South Tower when they retro-fitted the buildings for fire sprinklers. When they were built, they had none, because although it was becoming g common practice, they were not required by building codes. That’s right: they skipped a vital safety feature in buildings designed for children, because neither the city nor the state required it by law.

All universities are open campuses. There are no fences, gates or security guards checking IDs to make sure everyone who enters is a student, staff, faculty member or employee of the university. All colleges and universities are this way with the exception of the military academies. Even if the students had to use a badge to enter a building they would hold the door open so others could just walk in.

I believe the school grounds should be protected as much as they can regardless where; but on a more serious not-really-serious note, I legitimately laughed out loud in tears when she said she thought it was fake because she saw it on Instagram 🥹🤣😂
