Reminds me of something that happened in 7th grade. I was in a class where I was the only girl. I was tall, awkward, and quiet. I’ll never understand why, but this one boy in particular always went out of his way to be mean to me. Looking back, it may have been that I was a half foot taller than him. I always tried to live by what my mother taught me regarding bullies, which was to just not pay attention to them and not respond, and eventually they would stop bothering me. Anyone who has been bullied consistently knows that this is the worst advice you could ever give a kid. I trusted my mom and did my best to ignore this mean little asshat. Unfortunately things started to escalate. At the beginning of class, before the teacher came in, he hit me. Slugged me across the shoulder. I just looked him and he laughed and went to sit down. After class I told the teacher, but he didn’t believe me, and nobody else stood up for me. The kid did this a couple of more times, and my only response was to look at him until he sat down. Didn’t tell the teacher, because why would I waste my time telling somebody who wouldn’t believe me anyway. I think the fact that he could not get a rise out of me really pissed him off, because one day he came to my desk and chapped my wrist with a pencil. At the time I happen to be doodling on a piece of paper before class began, with a nice sharp pencil of my own, so I grabbed his hand as it was coming back up and got him back. Let’s just say that while his pencil definitely jabbed into me (I still have a grey ‘freckle’ to prove it), my pencil stayed where I put it. I won’t get too descriptive except to say that his hand got a bigger bandage than mine did. All of the other boys were watching this whole thing unfold, but the teacher only caught my reaction. At first he was telling me that I would be lucky to only get suspended. I will never forget one of the other boys standing up and speaking up for me, with this look of shock and awe on his face. To that point I had never stood up for myself before, never fought off a bully either verbally or physically, so I was honestly just as shocked as they were! I will never forget that boy. =) Mr. Newton, if you ever see this, you did a horrible job at being a teacher. By far the worst one I ever had.

But recently I told him about some ways our mum has been treating me and he snapped. I've never heard him so angry in my life and it scared me so much. And now I'm thinking about how much more intimidating it would be if we were talking face to face (fyi he's studying in another country so we were on call) I mentioned going to therapy as a whole family and he said that he won't be able to handle it because of how angry be would be.He was mainly angry at our mum since I'm only living with my parents at the moment and both my siblings are away and Our dad is barely home as well. Now I'mma just keep a note to myself to not piss him off.

I was always the calm quite one growing up. I was also in Drama. One particular Saturday the whole cast of High schoolers, the director and her assistant were at the school for rehearsal and to work on some backdrops. We got all the backdrop stuff done and the Director wanted to work on a couple scenes some had been struggling with but, all my other cast members were just chatting with each other and ignoring the Teacher and I was at my breaking point. It was hot. It was a Saturday. I just wanted to go home and the more my classmates talked the longer I knew it would take. So I snapped I shouted "Will Everyone just shut up!" There was dead silence in the room you could have heard a pin drop. Everyone was just staring at me with that deer in the headlights look. I finished by saying something along the lines of "I'm tired. It's Saturday. I want to go home. So please, listen to the director and let's get this over with." My teacher actually cracked a half smile, folded her arms and waited till I finished realizing that the rest of the cast just realized they had pissed off the quite one and for the first time in over twenty minutes they were all actually listening to someone. We were able to get what we needed to work rehearsed and left less than an hour later. To this day I get mad but...not that mad. I get more annoyed than anything and I have to say the annoyance is probably due to the fact that I work retail and have to deal with a lot of people every day and I would honestly prefer to stay home and just not, deal with all those people.

The teacher story reminded me of when my 4th grade teacher lost it on a class of twenty-five 10yr olds. Now she was one of the calmest teachers I have ever met. In fact she was my last genuinely calm teacher until I was 14. We had a thief in the class. Erasers, glue, pencils, crayons, a little bit of everything was going missing and no one was spared. Finally one day, while trying her hardest to stay calm, she demanded to know who was stealing so they could be punished. Everyone looked at each other and started making accusations about who they thought was the thief until we were sitting there screaming at each other. Some of the accusations weren’t even about the thief, it was just nonsense kids getting off track and wanting to start something. Nobody actually came forward. And then she finally lost it. She screamed at us all “shut up! Shut up! Shut the hell up! I don’t want to hear another peep out of any of you unless it’s a confession!” And everyone shut up except for the two kids that started crying. We were in total shock because she was one of the gentlest and best teachers in the school. And there she was screaming at us. She was so frustrated by the situation she started crying and had to leave the room. One of the other teachers had to come and watch us until school was over. The kicker? Turns out the thief wasn’t even in our class but the class across from ours. The doors were so close together nobody saw him sneaking in during recess when the rooms were empty. I’m not sure why he did it though, but after he was caught it stopped.

Hi, I was just wondering if even though you are nice and calm despite people being rude, do you calmly let those people know that they are being rude and crossing the line? Are you clear with them that you don't appreciate being treated that way and you won't continue to tolerate it? Just curious because you said you didn't know if you would snap one day and it made me think that if you're so nice you don't speak up at all, then there would probably come a time where you decided that was it and you would no longer be walked on. I hope you don't end up snapping, but just start being more assertive. When you're a nice person and you finally get upset or mad enough to tell somebody off you end up feeling bad. It sucks because even if everything you said(or yelled😁)is completely justified, you end up feeling like you shouldn't have reacted that way. I know from experience. Have a great day/night! ✨🌸✨🌸✨🌸✨🌸

Haven't said a word to him in almost a year. The sad thing is he never reacted to my swears (btw I pretty much never swore in my life) and never swore for the 2 years i knew him, yet didn't budge when I finally did. Swearing is too common for him i guess.

This also works for the reverse! TLDR; For context, I have pretty bad anger issues and a loud personality - I yell and cuss quite a bit each day, even if I'm not totally pissed (as in, swearing is just how I talk-). However, the moment I'm dead silent of calmly asking them a question, they know shit's gonna hit the fan. The moment I stop yelling and I give a slight laugh with my question, their faces drain.

My 4th grade teacher would never raise his voice at any student and was just an all around nice and genuine person. One day he seemed a little agitated and the class was being a bit loud then this one kid who had this huge book, like a good inch thick full of stuff about trains or whatever, did something to push him over his limit *which I do not remember what* and the teacher walked over all heavily, grabbed his book and tossed it in the trash which was all the way across the room over kids desks. It ended up halfway hanging off the top of the can which ripped a few pages. He ended up apologizing to everyone and said he shouldn’t of acted that way then we all forgot it happened and moved on with our day

I was always a quite kid in school and I was bullied 'cause of it, but I never reacted in any way, no matter what they did. I finally snapped at the end of 8th grade. This guy who was my main bully, approached my desk and pushed the table into my knees so hard I had bruises for weeks afterward! This all happened in front of a teacher, who just gave us a quick look before going back to writing something. That was the last straw! I got up, approached the guy, grabbed his shoulder to turn him around and punched him in the face as hard as I could. The whole classroom fell silent in shock! And that's when the teacher decided to react, asking me 'what am I doing'?! I looked at her in disbelief before yelling something like 'seriously?!That you saw, huh?!' She told me to watch my tone and sent us both to the principals office and I got suspended for a week.

So I have a story (it happened to me today) (day this got posted) but the story is… So I (F) was taking care of my younger siblings. We have this gate which is supposed to keep the younger ones out of the kitchen (cost like $40-$60) but my youngest sister stepped on the gate going into the kitchen breaking it, we (as in the next oldest after me) got her in trouble and sent her to her room I was being calm about it. She kept coming out of the room and running back in crying whenever we looked at her she was crying for no good reason, and that day I was extremely stressed I think because she woke me up early because she was hungry I gave her cereal 30 MINUTES later she comes back out saying she’s hungry I told her to wait until lunch she goes back to her room crying. She kept crying for no reason and saying “Why are you like this?!” “You should’ve thought of that” (after she broke the gate) and “I hate you” well after a while she came out again to do or say something but we say something and she goes crying back to her room saying “I just wanna be left alone” and so I say in the loudest probably gravely voice I could “THEN STAY IN THE ROOM!” my sister who was helping me (she yells/raises her voice more than I do), my youngest brother who was right there, and my youngest sister just went silent. After that I went back to being calm, I’ve been visiting them it’s been like a week (maybe more) and like all through being here I have been calm, forgiving, and like giggly? So that was the first time I yelled honestly I which my sister (“helper” not youngest) was recording. So yeah that’s my story. Do you think I should have done anything differently? Just for more backstory she woke me up an hour after I properly went to sleep, I gave her cereal, I couldn’t go back to sleep I had to get my youngest brother in the shower because he had an accident (we don’t have wipes and no one else was awake) make breakfast for him, and myself she comes out when my youngest brother, my younger brother, and I are eating saying she’s hungry I tell her to wait she goes to her room crying, later me and my younger sister are planning on making Mac and Chez and she’s all like “I don’t want Mac and cheese! I want ramen” she gets it, comes back out saying she’s hungry, breaks the gate she keeps crying (and she’s old enough to know she shouldn’t have done that) back story over I know I probably repeated stuff

This was me a some years ago. I was in 7th grade I had a crush on a dude who didn't like me (He will be called A) and I was best friends with a guy from 5th grade (We'll call him C) we all went to the same elementary school and all the boys that went to our elementary school would all sit together at one table. When ever the boys that were friends with A who went to our elementary school they would say in a sing song voice out loud "🎶 You Like C You Like C You Have a crush on C!🎶" Which isn't that bad except for when you told A that you had a crush on him back in 6th grade and when you were absent for a day. He was flirting with your girl "bestfriends" and said one was hot the other was cute and they asked what about me and he said I was ugly and the next day I'm at school and we're playing a school game my friends tell me I'm pretty A is sitting behind me and mutters under his breath "No you're not." I held back my tears for 5 minutes with what he said repeating in my head till tears started streaming down and my "friends" were asking what was wrong and I was over exaggerating because that was 5 mins ago.Anyways back to 7th grade They would always sing that to me till I was fed up I never yelled at anyone when I was mad and I've never cursed either. That day I finished lunch and went over to that table to wait for C to finish his lunch C is a really nice guy. Some of the boys started doing the sing song You like C and C started eating his food faster and saying no they don't guys stop. He finished his food and they were still singing it so right as we're about to leave I snapped keep in mind we're in a cafeteria I yelled SHUUUUUUUT UUUUUUUPP! I TOLD YOU A I LIKED YOU BACK IN 6TH GRADE AND YOU SAID I WAS UGLY WHICH IS FINE YOU DONT HAVE TO LIKE ME I DONT LIKE C NOT ANYMORE LIKE THAT WERE JUST FRIENDS AN I SEE HIM AS A BROTHER SO SHUT UP AND YOU ALL STOP SINGING THAT WHENEVER YOU SEE ME BEFORE I MAKE YOU ALL SHUT UP!!!!! They were all wide eyed and in shock with their mouths open I had never snapped before even C was in shock And I said c'mon C let's go. And we left. The boys didn't do the sing song anymore but A started acting weird and randomly blew his breath in my face as I looked up at him confused and asked why? he smiled and said he just wanted to. The next day I did the same thing to him And said it's payback. He did it one or 2 more times and then left me alone. Sorry I ranted.
