I watched this before I enlisted to bmt in 2021 September, I commissioned from OCS almost exactly a year later and now (Jan 2023) I have 7 months left till ORD. Time really flew by.

Tekong BMT, traditionally, is meant for A (Air) level and Poly batches during which they will be largely trained for OCS and Section Commanders' school. Not as tough as those who are mono intake and also those who are posted to elite vocations (NDU, Commandos). Certainly, some will still be posted to infantry units after their POP from Tekong.

A good cause, it is very sad to leave children behind, no matter how old they are. They are still your kids. I joined at 17 in the Australian Army and never saw my parents again until 15 months later. My first posting was to an Infantry Battalion 4,222kms from my home. Then after that it was annual leave every 12 months. You are very lucky to be so close to family in Singapore.

Of course enlistment with parents tasting cookhouse food, they will try to make it nicer for that one day lah. my enlistment day they serve me biryani and curry chicken, I thought so shiok, then following that the standards all declined. Until the new batches of recruit come in, then our menu became the very tasty biryani and curry chicken again for that one day before reverting back to the normal mediocre standards.

Anyways to add on, SAF cookhouse overseas are always the best. We asked our unit cookhouse towkay before why our local cookhouse standard cannot meet overseas cookhouse. Then he said if they can be afforded the budget of overseas cookhouse then yes, they can cook swee swee for us. Basically I think overseas cookhouse budget per head is $10+, while local cookhouse budget is less than $10 per head. So budget is a factor for quality lor.

We mostly get fruits for desserts during BMT. The food standard is a lie to the parents on enlistment day. I was so disappointed with the food on the 2nd day xD

Today's enlistment 12 May 2018, for my nephew, we had bryani yellow rice, two curry chicken thighs or drumsticks, or pieces of fried fish cake, curry cabbage, a cup of sweet barley dessert, a melon jelly cup and an orange syrup drink. I considered it a good treat. My nephew, a fussy eater, was not impressed.

I think that's pretty good! My enlistment meal was something like what's shown in the video without the pudding. Well.... if girls are made to do NS like what the guys are going through, many of them will land into IMH. And I'm quite sure girls will be made to do NS in future but they will be doing a toned down version of the guy's.

Wow their company must be tiny. Every coy has a wave 1 and 2 of enlistment totaling 250 recruits for a max strength coy. Wave 1 usually has 60% of the recruits with the rest in wave 2. I only see about 50 recruits there, means their company must be less than 150 people!?
