As I am taking my very first batch of recruits at the turn of the year, I felt that I should give a little insight about BMT, what to expect and what to pack because I have been there, as a confused guy who's waiting to enlist and anxious to start writing a new chapter in life. weeee love this vid!! and just some tips summarised (inclusive of the things andriel covered hehe) 1. maintain/improve your physical fitness!! though NS now isn't the toughest physically now, physical fitness helps you a great deal to cope in NS 2. work on mental strength and resilience!!! i think the toughest part for me was the mental part of things, looking for the positives and knowing you're doing this for yourself/family is what got me through everything. sometimes it may feel like they are mentally breaking you, esp in command school but i would say that's what it takes to grow not just as an NSF but as a person when you go out to uni/work 3. learn soft and hard skills from training and from fellow NSFs, meaning learning how to work tgt, communication and also learning to manage emotional and mental stresses, and ofc hard skills though may not be super applicable cos it's military stuff but there will be some hehe 4. lastly is to look at NS as a time for growth, new friends, and fun. it's a mandatory service and it's up to you how you wanna make use of this 2 years, i personally would say, go in optimistic. sure you don't need to wanna go to OCS/SCS but i would say strive to learn and takeaway something from this 2 years. 2 years is a short yet long time, how you carry yourself through it be it dreading it everyday and making your life miserable, or to enjoy the "sufferings" together w friends -- maybe even brothers -- and enjoy and learn, is entirely up to you but as the saying goes, time flies when you're having fun so...........yea!! jiayous to all those in NS now, or about to start their journey hehe the journey itself may be tough and rocky but you're not alone, support and be supported. no matter how much you hate it or love it, memories will still be made here so why not have great memories :) take care and God bless you all!!

Hello Andriel, sorry I’m a dummy haha. When you said we can bring portal chargers, are we allowed to bring our camera phones like iPhone 12, Samsung galaxy 8 etc?Thanks

Hii! HAHAH nooo i dont mean dummy in a bad way! 😅 But yes, camera phones are allowed in Tekong, unlike in the past. But ofc, photo and video taking is not allowed!

Hi Andriel, any advice for someone who is coming from overseas? I was born in Singapore but I have been in New Zealand for pretty much my whole life, I'm going for NS in 2023 any advice or know people who have come from overseas and come back to serve NS?

Hi Douglas! Sorry but I don't know anyone who came back from overseas to serve NS. But I guess what I can tell you is to take some time to get used to military life when you enlist. And most importantly, make friends as you'll be spending the most time with them so at least you guys can entertain each other while in camp! Don't worry, BMT is pretty chill and all your superiors are approachable should you face any problems! Hope this helps :)

It's best to bring all the relevant documents. But photos should be fine since you lost the letter.. All the best!!

Yoi its hard to give advice ngl cuz ns we have combat n noncombat so yahh y'all haven't enlist yall pray hard to get unfit for combat better thats the advice i have if you dislike ns n wish to get the easy option out .
