I love how their convenience stores have fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, and healthier snacks. Those triangle seaweed gimbab are awesome. Even the bread looks healthier than the American version. I like that you can grab everyday necessary items like napkins and toilet paper. I wish America had more of these neighborhood convenience stores that are mini supermarket. Maybe Americans would walk more instead of just driving everywhere.

Interesting concept. Observations: - Onigiri (the salmon rice triangles) are about half the price at Bangkok 7-Elevens - All the bread is xpensive for what u get (like Canada price but lousier quality) - Beer (per tin) is cheaper in Vietnam minimarts. My suggestion is to forego the bread in the minimarts (it all sux) and head to local bakeries (Bayon, et al) for way more delicious fresh baked baguettes. Cheers buddy!

No Royal Mart? It’s the best in Phnom Penh. Ok so like Angkor and super duper it’s not franchised. But the prices are the best. Almonds for less than $5/lb. Good bread under $2, and it’s in TTP It deserves a video review
@itchyfeetonthecheap23 сағат бұрын
I like the Royal Mart. They would do pretty well, according to my scoring system, but not a franchise.

Lucky's logo is suspiciously similar to the Northern California Lucky grocery chain that was established in the 1930s, and was bought out in the late 1990s.

As soon as you said Circle K I couldn't believe they have them out there?? I knew they wouldn't do well cause they're horrible here in Arizona!! Always O of S, filthy dirty and I noticed you didn't check the bathrooms, bathroom at Circle k 🤢 just an all-around bad experience. Quik Trip is by far the best convenient store out here. We don't have any kind of fresh meats vegetables or eggs in our convenience stores. Lucky is a pretty nice supermarket chain here in California the logo is the same so i'm guessing the ownership is as well. Thanks for the run down looking forward to trying Aeon 🙏

Lucky in California? I didn't know. Thanks.
@eLegend_2413 сағат бұрын
@itchyfeetonthecheap yes, sir, as long as I can remember Lucky has been here in Northern California and the logo design color and font is the same as the Lucky Express.

Super Duper is owned by Smile. They're more grocery store than convenience store.
@skipperclinton108721 сағат бұрын
@itchyfeetonthecheap: Ryan, I understand that. They're more like the old mom & pop neighborhood grocery store in the US as is IMO Smile. However, my wife and myself both had the same question. We have one two blocks away and the Max Value you visited is just one block away so six of one, half dozen the other. Both well within walking distance. Nice to know the spread on 7-11 and Circle K is because in the US they both are way more expensive. About $2 from cheapest to highest on all, not a deal breaker. BTW, Super Duper is a convince for me. Thanks for the breakdown.

Circle K is owned by Quebec convenience store juggernaut Alimentation Couche-Tard. They bought out the US Circle K chain from bankruptcy in 2003. Circle K in Vietnam operates very clean, well run convenience stores. Beats the VN competition. Last, 7-11 in Thailand is the best. Anyway, great report. Very helpful.
@Jeffr0-y1f23 сағат бұрын
Yeah, Circle K in VN is pretty sweet. But VinMart is slowing catching up...

I was not aware that we have circle k in Cambodia. In Ho Chi Mign City we have them everywhere and they even have a separate room for us to eat our food. It is actually like a restaurant, because they will cook up whatever you want.
