For those who questioning, this has became a serious problem not just for Cambodian alone but every countries fishermans and farmers who relied entirely on the Mekong River. Mekong River flows into a lot of countries in Asia, but because China built lots of dams (11 of them by the way) at the source of Mekong to make electricity, it changed the river flow and decreased the water level of the river significantly. This did not affect China in any way, but it's a disaster falling into all other countries that the River flows into. I'm from Vietnam myself, and the Cuu Long River, the ending point of Mekong River in my country also became just like this, if not worse. Before, the Mekong River splitted in 9 smaller rivers, hence the name Cuu Long (literally means 9 Dragons). But recently, all of them has completely dried up, especially in the dried season, when not a single drop of water could reach the sea. Lots and lots of farmers could not water their crops, and lots and lots of fishermans lost their jobs. All I can say is, thanks a lot China, for millions and millions of lives who solely depended on the Mekong River as their only life source, has been affected if not straight up been destroyed just for the sole purpose of making electricity for your own country...

This reminds me from the avatar the last airbender the city on water Jang Hui a fishing town, a factory moved in few years ago at the city because of rich people, and gunk up their water, now fishes slowly are dying, and dont want to live their and the people, they're starving. I bring this up because i seen that cartoon when i was young and i really never really thought a town actually exist like this in real life and this happening and it honestly makes me so sad man

China has been building super large hydroelectric dams on the Mekong River. But China has always denied contributing to climate change, and it has no significant compensation for farmers in the lower Mekong countries.

Chinese are too be blamed for this horrific horror.👈👀
the restriction of the natural flow of the Mekong River upstream, together with over fishing of the waters and also pollution of the rivers and lakes are more to blame than the climate change. but some moves are in place to help some of these issues

With that amount of water nearby why don't they fish farm instead. Atleast they can provide food for themselves. If managed properly it is nit impossible for them to gain further profits from it
@sekaihunter93783 жыл бұрын
Do you understand that large amounts of fishes simply cannot live with that amount of water? I had seen countless times when people tried to make fish farm and all of their fishes died, not because of pollution or toxic, but simply because the water level was too low. They even went as far as blowing oxygen into the water to keep the fishes alive, just because the water level was too low. And yet you tell me to make a fish farm with that amount of water? That would be a disaster during the dry season, when the water level will be even lower than that... And also before you ask, I live in Vietnam, the ending part of Mekong River, and it's even worse than this. Just in 2020 alone it had became the driest year in the past 100 years ...

They should focus on growing independent from the river, even that it's main way for income. Some farming or even growing fish in artificial lakes could be a way to survive.

Bitcoin price just finally blasted well above 33K for the first time in history. With the leading cryptocurrency by market cap having no clear resistance above it, it has now entered price discovery mode, and where to next is anyone's guess. I personally think now is the right time to take advantage of the current bull run and make money leveraging trades rather than just holding until the bears take over. I'm not a pro trade but I was lucky enough to make 25BTC since late last year following the instructions and signals from Steven Clarke Robert. He runs program for investors / newbies who lack understanding on how trading Bitcoin works, to help them utilize the volatility of the crypto market and also stack up more bitcoin. You can easily get to Reece on Telegram @steven_robert for any Crypt0 related issue.

Every single country along the river is building dams, like Thailand, Burma, Laos and Vietnam. Even cambodia itself has built a few dams there. Are they more qualified than China? China owns almost half of Mekong river, but built much less dams than Laos and Vietnam. Only China was blamed. Do smaller countries have moral superiority over bigger one?
@chielS1233 жыл бұрын
China financed the dams in Laos and constructed them. Now they have cheap electricity and China build an oil refinary next to Vientianne.

The dams in laos and csmbodia are funded by CCP and placed in areas with no planning that is fsvorable for its neighbors and its people and the dams in thailand burma and vietnam are placed accordingly to areas where lesser effect of stream flowing downards is effected. Vietnam actually had a protest to it but laos and cambodia are basically chinese colonies so they will never do anything to oppose the dams.
