Malaysia: The 6th Southeast Asian Peninsular Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 6th to 13th December 1971 with 15 sports featured in the games. Participating nations include Malaysia (host), Singapore, Thailand, Khmer Republic, Burma, South Vietnam, and Laos. This was the second time Malaysia hosted the games and its first time since 1965. The games was opened and closed by Abdul Halim, the King of Malaysia at the Stadium Merdeka. The final medal tally was led by Thailand, followed by host Malaysia and Singapore, whereas the Khmer Republic ranked at the 5th with 17 gold medals received.

It looks like the flag of Taiwan (ROC) since 1928, including Samoa since 1949, Myanmar from 1948-1974, 1974-2010 Tonga since 1875, and Malaysia since 1957. Both of these flags have a field and canton square with different symbols. The Khmer Republic flag from 1970-1975 looks similar to the Taiwanese flag, but it has an Angkor Wat Temple and three white stars on the field and canton, color red and blue. The Burmese flag from 1948-1974 has 6 white stars representing the unity of the tribes of Myanmar (Burma) that fought against the British Colonial Rule. The Red And Blue field and canton is similar to Taiwan and Samoa which has 5 white stars like the 1948-1974 flag of Myanmar (Burma). Tonga has a white field on a red canton like Taiwan instead of blue and a red cross symbolizing Christianity, the main religion of the Island. Tonga looks similar to The Taiwanese flag with a cross instead of the sun. Malaysia also has a crescent moon and sun in yellow color representing Islam and The Tropical Climate while the Blue field on a white canton is similar to Taiwan's flag instead of red. The Red Lines means the equator of the planet. Samoa on February 24, 1949 gained independence from the UK Also has a red and blue field and canton like Taiwan, Burma with stars instead of the sun. Khmer Republic from 1970-1975 under the Lon Nol leadership is similar to the Taiwanese flag but with a different color reverting the Taiwanese red field and blue canton to a different one.
