Cambrian Heritage Railways - School crossing to Blodwel track inspection

The visit was part of a three day working weekend and will view most of the CHR non running lines..The first of two videos has the most appeal due to the remoteness of the line, notice the change after the one taken just after Christmas 2017. The joined up video, allowed us to stop and rectify any objects and greenery in the way of running safely.. The next video shows what gave us a complete surprise when inspecting the A483, no not the 2 charity walkers.

Thanks for your reply. Your so fortunate at CHR Llangollen railways would give anything for what you have. A open connection to the main line. I believe that they are hoping to get Ruabon line open again. But it will be an uphill battle. Can you get line to Gabowen open, the potential for visiting star locomotives driving right in. Tornado or even The Scotsman. That would give Oswestry a taste of the old days.

We have the connection at Gobowen and also part own the station with the holding group, which is made up of users and local council. It needs some work but that is ongoing and does at the moment, not reflect on our finances. The carriage from the the CarVinTrust is being worked on for our Easter opening and the bridge has arrived for the cattle creep.. so all goes on to Weston and the brewery.(Dec18).

Dave , the line has been weed killed up to a point where there is a fair amount of undergrowth, we had to remove a bush and tree but the weed kill wagon could not pass it so it was left and that is why it is a bit of a sorry state half way down. Although rocky hand held I could not put up the tripod.

This line was for the Quarry which had to be kept, last train in the 70's.

Don’t know about inspections. You need a work party doing some clearing before it gets so bad it’s not worth restoring. The sleepers look in a very poor condition. Nothing seems to be being done to address this. Is it still on the cards to get this line open to the paying public again?.

This section will no doubt be the last as the majority of the sleepers have been deemed no fit. As you can see on the Cambrian forum we are in the process of getting to Weston and its brewery by the end of 2018...Only last week the bridge arrived for the cattle creep..A big meccano set for us...

No idea where Weston and brewery are. Sounds like a boys booze party. All anyone can see is a line that should be drawing tourist money to the area rotting away. I mean to say in all your videos you have not even got a proper passenger carriage. People are interested in seeing this line open again passengers = £ in the local economy. 6 people in a brake van ain’t going to make enough to pay for the coal. Some serious show of intent is required Like Nantmawr they have passengers paying passengers.

Weston is south of Oswestry and is before the A483 Level crossing, this will be the first one to cross when the extension to the Twao is applied. The CHR has had a very good Christmas and has purchase a carriage for this section of the line and will hopefully be put into service for Easter.. A route map is available on the CHR website with notes..
