I have this amp driving a pair of KEF LS50's and it sounds fantastic. The 80 watt power rating is very conservative... this amp gets LOUD. I have a Denon receiver rated at 100 watts per channel and the CXA80 is much louder at all volume levels.

Thank you for your feedback, which RCA cables and speaker cables are you using?
@TravelandAudio4 жыл бұрын
Because it is current what makes a speaker sound loud, not the watts like many people think. This receiver is really muscular and lean!

I bought a CXA80 to link with my CXNV2 and it is superb, even with my tiny SX 50 speakers.

1:32 What do you mean expand by hooking up an external amp? How does this work and doesn't this reciever have it's own amp?
@cheeyeefong84424 жыл бұрын
Hooking up an external amp means hooking the CXA80 to a power amp , thus making the CXA80 acts as a preamp. The CXA80 isn't a receiver. It is a stereo amplifier.

So if i compared this side by side to my Vintage Sansui G 8000 120 watt receiver what would be the difference? is there a noticeable sound improvement? No i dont care about digital this and bluetooth that, Just great sound. Any thoughts would be great from people who have made the change from something like mine.

Is this better than Denon PMA 1600
@panblue434 жыл бұрын
Hi! About 1, 5 years ago I upgraded my audio system. I was looking for a good performer in mid class so I choose between cambridge cax60/80 or nad c326bee or marantz pm7005. The cax60 had cold sound,the used materials not the best quality (speaker terminals, etc). The 80 was better but not that price. The nad had warm,pleasant sound but get too hot in 10 minutes and not the best in mid and treble section. I bought the marantz: impressive sound with good power.High quality build inside and outside too, and the Cirrus Dac has better sound than the Wolfson (cambridge). Final: the marantz pm7005 and pm8005 made in japan, not that trash from far-east. Best regards.

Are the cx80 worth buying at used price $500 than a new cx81 at retail price $1200?
@AudioAdvice2 жыл бұрын
The 80 was a great integrated amp and that seems like a good deal.
