Cycles tend to repeat. In all likelihood one or both of the parents cheated and they stayed together. This is IMHO not the thing to ever do. It teaches your children that such things can just be swept under the rug, but at best they only fester and do worse harm further down the line. Case in point this poor sad sack drowning his sorrows.

The basic wiring of your brain is mostly complete by the age of five or six. Who you are as a person is mostly set by then. What happens after is mostly refinement of who you are, not fundamental change. Change is possible past that point, but it usually requires extreme life-altering experiences. Long prison sentence, military training, near death experience - things like that.

Someone in the first story made a good point. Don't worry about closure when someone has harmed you. Closure is for when a relationship ends for benign reasons (like drifting apart, issues with family, health, etc), not when someone cheats on you, or does simething equally or more harmful. Like the commentor said, closure is for the cheater. When you catch them, a cheater has already shown you who they are. You already know everything you actually NEED to know. Anything else is excess. Drop them and move on.

You ever notice how people equate guys' "moving on and finding happiness" to finding another woman, yet equate girls' happiness to finding her inner strength and being happy on her own? @@PreeSpunky bruh i would say the opposite, but that’s probably because Im a woman, and I understand everyone’s experience is unique and tailored to their different perspectives, so I don’t make broad sweeping generalizations based off my own individual experience with no actual data, statistics or math to back that statement up… LMAO But you’re right that he doesn’t need to find another woman to be happy… and it sounds like he was experiencing pressure from his family, too. But you can’t be happy in a relationship with someone else until you’re happy and healthy in your relationship with yourself. If he ever decides to pursue love again, it should be because he desires it, and it’s for himself and him alone. He shouldn’t cave in to the pressure from anyone else in his life (like his family) about what they think he should be doing with his life. So whatever he does, from now on, I hope that he does it for himself.

The sad thing about this, its becoming more and more common for women to cheat, social media has turn theses women to consequences non existence. And more sadder its the good men that are the ones that are working early/late hours to provide. The men that love every minute of being around their children. Story 1: He shouldn't have met her at the bar after the breakup. She was obviously going to lie to him and did. He already knew it wasn't her only time. That meeting only helped her get 'closure' rather than him. He should have continued blocking her and just moved on.

so the friend's-wife that tried to force a conversation...was the one instance not enough? it took learning it was multiple events for you to acknowledge what it was, a massive breach of trust.

Don't even understand why people cheat in seemingly happy relationships. My wife would never destroy what she has and neither would I ever do such. When we have problems, we talk to each other, as hard as it sometimes can be. When my wife told me one day after sitting me down that I wasn't as intimate as I used to be I was shocked and quickly tried my best to change whatever has gone wrong in the last few weeks at that point. We're all flawed in one way or another but working on something that you're unaware off is just not happening.

Adultery should be made illegal, and be considered an automatic deal breaker in divorce case and child custody case. If you can't be trusted to be trustworthy in a mariage, you can't be trusted to be trustworthy with a child.

Don’t need to move in together in a relationship staying with parents is best option until you get enough money for a house, don’t let anyone stay longer than one night and make that a hard and fast rule, someone else out there wants a proper relationship and will not cheat, trust me there are many women who want a partner who will not stray and they feel the same

If this ones real then he had to learn the hardest part of life, don't be so trusting that you can't see the thorns when they creep in. I suppose now the main character will take 10 years of his life to recover further limiting his experience level.

What I don't like from OP is that he keep relying on alcohol to calm himself down. Stay away from alcohol when dealing with this kind of serious matter. Stay sober to keep him from saying or doing something stupid. Good thing none of the women during the boys night take OP drunken offer.

Op should tell ratchet’s mom that the sister knew about it and if you happen to know who sister’s partner is, let them know also. Odds are it was her, and if it wasn’t, she’ll have to say who it was to undo the damage.

If I had a spouse and said spouse told me he had to cover up something for a co-worker, I'd wonder what mistake, misdeed, or crime the co-worker had committed and why my spouse was helping to hide it.

How does a practicing nurse look homeless? Like, I’m not doubting OP, I just can’t see a thought process from A to B. Nurses would be extra particular about hygiene, and scrubs look like scrubs. Most medical places I’ve been, the receptionist wears scrubs, even though they never touch patients. Nurse would almost certainly have a low-maintenance hair style, comfy sneakers (and a lot of places try to schedule the scrubs colors, so the only way to express some zazz is with colorful sneakers. Nurse’s options are so few… they look like nurses. A marine will always look like a marine, even out of uniform. Same with nurses.
