The first thing I add to any camera is a wrist strap. I find it so much more comfortable than a neck strap. Of course, depending on the situation, a neck strap can be better (like for long hikes, etc.), but if you're just pulling the camera out of your bag occasionally, a wrist strap is absolutely perfect.

I love good quality ND filters. You don’t have to use the extreme ends but that mid range (which could be like 2-3 stops) can be super useful. Instead of carrying multiple filters especially in rapidly changing light conditions

I have the Peak Design wrist strap and I love it. I find it much nicer than wrapping a standard neck strap around my hand. If I am going to be out for a longer time, or if I expect a lot of walking before I get to a location, I also pair the wrist strap with a sling strap. That way, I can 'disconnect' from the wrist strap momentarily if necessary and let the sling strap carry my camera.

Bought the original Atoll horizontal-to-vertical mount and the bottom is compatible with PD camera clip. I use it quite often. The PD clip is probably the best piece of equipment I ever bought. And the most used. I looked at the Smallrig and went for Atoll in the end. The Atoll goes 180degrees not the smallrig if I remmeber correctly.
@djrt81792 ай бұрын
Something SmallRig makes that I just bought for vertical capture is a NATO-rail clamp that extends into an Arca-plate. So now when I make vertical content for video, I just clamp the tripod plate onto the side of my camera on the already existing NATO rail and it perfectly turns into a vertical camera. Really nifty piece of gear.

For some odd reason i have really taken to using wrist straps. I don't have neck straps on any of my cameras. I've done mostly street for over 3 years and it's just my thing, i guess. I feel less like a tourist without the camera dangling around my neck. I just use the $15 variety with a little pad and straps. Oops! They've gone up. $25

Wrist strap: I did not like the way it closed down tight on me. This made it super awkward to use. I took it to a leather worker with a heavy duty sewing machine and had the strap modified to stay fully open. Love it now. I don't think of it as anti-theft, more anti accidentally dropping my gear when not using a neck strap. Arsenal: I bought version 1. Got the same promises of fixes and updates. Decided "never again" with that one and did not bother with the second version.

Wow This video is a good one, has all the info I needed, thanks. Number 1. I have and use more than the neck strap. 2&3 Don’t have, thought about them but don’t think I’ll use them. I do have a Smallrig L bracket that I use on tripod to go between vertical and horizontal and use it a lot, plus adds bit of protection from knocks. I use number 4 and it is more about keeping SD cards together and easy to find than for protection. Number 5 I, like you Pierre prefer fixed ND filters but I bought magnetic ones and am not keen as sometimes if I bump it it comes off. I have action cameras and by far the one I use the most is the Insta 360 Go3 as I mount it on the top of camera or on magnetic necklace for POV. I’ve been looking for underwater casing but the cost looked so high and I wondered about the plastic bag style ones so now will seriously consider it.

I have Neewer's version of the horizontal plate and have it mounted to my A7RIV for landscape photography... Honestly, I really like it, but I use it with the PD travel tripod which is not exactly stellar with its landscape orientation, so its a big help. The downside is that it's not exactly easy to remove so its extra weight to an already heavy camera... but, that's why its on the A7RIV and not my A7III which is my everyday carry. So, its good for that tripod and high res cameras. Niche market I suppose. Thanks for the advice on the Arsenals.. I've been eyeballing those for a while and now I have trusted advice on why not to drop $$ on it.

This list is so accurate, everything you mentioned is literally a return after 2 weeks or a dust collector. P.S.: How often you have SD cards not in your camera bodies? Arsenal 2 was a big waste of money for me too. I remember the excitement I had when it first came out, especially because I just bought my a7iii and I was at very beginning in my photography journey and I thought it would be a very neat helping device. But it turned out I had big problems with app stability, regardless of the phone I was using, which became very frustrating, even more so when I began to learn a thing or two about photography (mostly from you ❤️) and realized how easy it is to take good photos.

Definitely the wrist strap, sd card case, also I bought plastic rain cover for my camera. Great concept but I never feel comfortable taking my camera and lenses out in the rain anyways so used maybe twice and it was more fumbling around than it was worth. Love this video very helpful! I noticed photographers and videographers are renting equipment out for income as well. Do you feel these products may be better rented out or the demand wouldn’t be there to make renting worth it?

I use the wrist strap all the time for street photography. I leave it wrapped on my wrist, then attach it to the camera before unclipping it from my shoulder strap, so my camera is always tethered to me one way or the other. Then no one can grab the camera from me, and if I forget it's not on the shoulder strap and let go of the camera, no problem. Biggest regret? Normal C stands for lights. I discovered the flashpoint autostands, where the legs automatically collapse, which makes it way easier to carry around, and now I never use my old light stands that don't have this feature. (My house is my studio, so I don't have a big dedicated space to leave things set up.)

Got tons of filters too, used them a few times but I just do everything in photoshop.

So I sat down looked at what I really need and sold everything that was collecting dust on the shelf. Techart - autofocus adapter M-E .
