Insta360 was caught in a recent scandal to hide youtuber sponsorships. They asked youtubers not to mention that the video was sponsored so they would sound more honest and genuine. How ironic... I don't work with unethical companies, and I'm tired of youtube shills who just advertise for companies without ever mentioning the flaws of said products. I've definitely forgot to mention in reviews that the product was sent to me by the company, but it's always a very balanced review looking for the negatives so I can save you from yourself lol.

Your right feet loo like it flooting... It felt like green screen hehe. I got the Insta 360 X2 and X4 now, and I have 2 big issue, first, their application on phone and tablet, BLOCK you from selecting an external media storage. They do this intentionally, because I got their Quick Reader now, and when you connect it to your phone or tablet, the ONLY THING it does it allow you to select a External Media Storage. So now if I use a USB-C Hub, and connect my 2TB SSD Drive, I can load my video from there. It just evil to do things like that ! And my second issue, is the fact is they made a plugin for Adobe, but they didn't do it for Davinci Resolve ! Insta360 video decoder suck, because when I look at people who use Adobe premier plugin, their video quality look much better than my export from Insta360 app. Also, their email response is quick, but it just seem to be AI response to be friendly but we can read between the life the f-u . I like 360 video, and it why I tolerate it, but I despise Insta360 attitude and I hope someone else replace them !

Ah so good! I agree with everything you said. They're telling their remaining content creators that they're changing their ways. I'm guessing that means they won't e-mail them asking not disclose the sponsorship. Not because that is illegal, but because that's a written proof of them being shady. So I'm guessing they're probably going to ask them verbally to hide the sponsorships so that they don't have written proof. I'm also very thankful for you and everyone who joined me in this. Also I like your message at the end. Because if we reveal the creators who hide the Insta360 sponsorships, I think this platform will flip again. One last thing, I'm sure you realized the tech outlets not touching this subject. Isn't that very revealing?

@@cameraconspiracies great video. we know that advertisers and marketers bend the truth to sell their products, and so often they are protected by legislation passed by politicians they pay. that's bad enough, but we know it happens...it should never be a surprise. but, what's way worse are the people (in this case, youtubers) who take the company's money and products and lie to us about the products and don't disclose the fact that they took the bribe from the company, because the company told them not to.

The classic position on this is rather stark: *It is better to betray your advertisers rather than your readers.* The reason for this is that if you betray your readers (or viewers or listeners or audience more generally) they will soon realise, and stop trusting you - and probably eventually desert you. Once you have lost your readers etc then advertisers - even ones you have falsely praised, will no longer have any interest in you at all. This principle is explored in eminent newspaperman Walter Lippmann's influential 1922 work "Public Opinion", but it goes back even further. As soon as newspapers started taking much money in the way of advertising the idea of simply bribing editors and journalists instead for favourable coverage occured to advertisers. But editors and their publishers soon realised that in that direction lay *DOOM* whatever the temptation when times were tough. For one thing, not just readers but other advertisers would soon notice, and get angry. And worse, try to get free coverage themselves, or try to beat your advertising rates right down. Or simply go elsewhere to a better-trusted, less desperate publication.
@bradl2636

Absolutely correct. Sponsors and advertisers will abandon you AFTER your viewers and readers do so never lie to the folks really keeping the lights on. 👍
@Rationalific
@Rationalific 4 ай бұрын
I really wish that were true, but it seems like 1) things seem worse now than before (at least in my lifetime...I'm not sure about 1922), and 2) this supposes an intelligent readership who actually cares about the truth, and the majority of people are simply not that way. They lack both intelligence and integrity themselves, and often prefer lies that back up what they want to think rather than a truth that goes against it. In such a situation, lying to your audience can render much greater rewards than being honest much of the time, not that I condone it. I'm against it, in fact, but that doesn't appear to be common in the human experience.

@@Rationalific Reviews are different to politics. What you say may apply to political opinions among some readerships, but not reviews. People tend to feel foolish if they buy a bad product based on fake reviews. There's also a legal aspect for the publication if financial inducements can be shown to have influenced the contents of what purports to be a fair review. It depends on jurisdiction, but disgruntled suppliers who have lost out in a comparitive review are more likely to win, and win more damages.

I think a lot of the problems are down to KZbinrs having started to review products without prior experience. I've been reviewing cameras and camera related stuff for going on 20 years now, beginning with printed publications. Manufacturers always understood that their products were open to criticism. They didn't mind as long as the criticisms were made constructively, and not just saying something like "this product is shit". I keep to that philosophy now. I think a lot of the problems now are because KZbinrs *think* that they aren't allowed to criticise the product and have to over enthuse about it rather than anything the company has said to them. With the Insta360 thing, it must be because of who I deal with, but I've never been asked to do anything unethical by them. My understanding was that the issue was down to inexperienced staff making a complete balls up. Companies always have to send a product to be reviewed, otherwise the product can't be reviewed. For the majority of companies I just get sent the gear for a couple of weeks then it has to go back, and no company ever gets a say in what I write or say. If they ever do try (and some have in the past), I just tell them straight that it's not gonna happen. If all KZbinrs started being more critical of products (where it's warranted), and making it clear to companies that they have no editorial control, then manufacturers wouldn't be able to withhold products. Not that I think they would anyway. I laid in pretty hard when I looked at the DJI Action 2, and they just took the criticisms on board and just released a much improved camera a year later, which I still got to review. It's great when someone owns the gear and reviews it, but for publications, that just isn't a practical way to do things.

Thanks Kasey for keeping it above board. I only have about 10% of your subscribers, but I too get the occasional offer to help sell a product. In my opinion, no matter what the product is, if I can't be honest with my audience on its pros and cons and my financial relationship with the company, then I have zero integrity. Occasionally, I run into one of my viewers and I have to be able to look them in the eye and keep it real about how good or bad a product is.

They lost my interest when they banned half their subreddit and facebook group when people were (rightfully) disappointed about the Ace Pro's non removable lens mount which was actually designed to be removable but they just glued the rotating mount (which was similar to the GoPro bayonet lens mount) and then had a second purge when people found out that their 'action cam' broke with very minor 'action.' This is exactly why I just bought an Acne 4. I bought it 3 days ago based solely on this video. I've watched every video Canon Conspiracies has ever made... twice in fact. That's how I know Corey has said there is not one flaw with the DOJ Activision 4(5). It fits every scenario I plan to use it for perfectly. My only question is where is the release mechanism for the lens? I just bought a $10k Z mount lens from a guy off Craigslist to use with it and I'm having a hard time figuring it out. Also I think the dude who sold me the lens wasn't aware of what he had. Because the lens was mislabeled as a 50mm f1.8 F-mount. I didn't say anything to him because I've watched alot of antique roadshow on TV and I know that mislabeled stuff can be worth alot of money.

About the Oreos: notice that it's not just extra calories, but the weight is considerably different and all that extra weight (almost 1/3 more) is just filling, which will contain more fat. So in the regular ones there's probably something like 0.07g of transfats, but since nothing is indicated to more than 1 decimal precision, it just didn't register.

You should talk about You Tubers that sell out and name names. I have a day job. Could never make enough money to pay my bills or equipment with the You Tube money. I understand why guys do it. Especially when I get home from work sore/ blisters. I make videos to pay it forward because You Tube is a place to learn about products and techniques. These manufacturers go after desperate You Tubers because they know they really could use the money and they can corrupt them and manipulate them very easily. If you Tube paid it's monetized creators properly there would be less of this happening. They contributed to the problem. I'm also no longer an Amazon affiliate. They treated me horribly as well. I have my day job. I do videos in my spare time. Editing and production is difficult because that takes time. I'm glad you did the video but go down the list and talk about the sell outs. I tried AG1 and it was disgusting! I've also seen a lot of BAD reviews for Better Help, that the therapists don't seem to care, and it's difficult to find a new one if you don't like the one you got, etc. So now I'm skeptical of the companies that are sponsoring 6,000 KZbinrs.

Yeah it's really tough. I'm really careful with my own reviews and have never accepted any "ambassadorship" program. Fortunately because I review telescopes and filters and stuff like that it's easy to get a lot of quantitative data (star shapes across the FOV on the camera sensor, spectrophotometer analysis of filters, etc. and just show it :)). Still because so many others are less careful, I do often get accused of being a shill....

G'day from Australia... that's exactly what happened to me, I listened and 'researched' travel tripods, decided on the Freewell Travel Tripod, bought it at full retail with my own money, then did my own review, and have been happy with it since. I only review gear I've bought myself. Cheers

I bought an insta360 AcePro in January this year, prior to my ski vacation. It feels rugged, looks good, pretty intuitive to use etc etc. But once on the ski slopes, it would not work. The start button took over a hundred presses to start filming. But then I had to remove the battery in order to stop it... Once back home in 'normal' temperatures, it worked fine. I took it back to the dealer, but they could not find any issues with it. So I am left with a piece of kit that I KNOW is dodgy. I did put comments about my experience on those other YT channel vids promoting it (which was quite a few, because I was and still am pissed about it) but strangely not one of them responded and these were big name YTers. Actually, that's not entirely true, the bloke with excessive curly hair said I must have just got a faulty one, so shaddap, it happens... So I close with similar sentiment to all my previous comments on the other channels about this product: DO NOT BUY insta360 PRODUCTS! The above is genuine purchaser experience.

When I disclose in a review video that I received the product for free, the company is not paying me, but I do get a cut if you use my link, I get vitriol in the comments from people who want to argue about whether the free product or affiliate commissions are "payment". If they knew how much cash is sloshing around the KZbin review circuit, they would be embarrassed that they were worried about the smallest part of the issue. Getting paid for your work is fine; just disclose it so people know what they're watching and can make informed decisions.

I found your videos while researching the DJI Osmo Action 3, I have now purchased 2 of them not just off your reviews but from that of others. As a KZbinr I do have sponsorships but I research the companies and I will always give honest reviews. I was sent a couple of products and have paid for products that I have given bad reviews for even when I was asked not to do a review at all. I would rather be honest. When it comes to sponsorship I only want to work with companies I really do trust.

I am a small channel that posted a video about the insta x4 this week, immediately banned from Reddit insta page. lol Now made it my mission to point out everything that is wrong with their stuff. thanks for being honest, sadly you might get your channel blackisted you won't get new gear, you won't be "brand friendly", my business partner bought the 360 so we can do bts of our filming, I don't know which version but out of the box was a horrible experience, videos were super dark, each time we wanted to record there's this weird delay which killed the vibe, I didn't have the energy to look at why, it supposed to be user friendly, she just put it back in the box and returned it.

Always wait a few weeks after a product drops. KZbin will push the liars hard in the top search results. You'll get more honest information from some guy reviewing a product in his kitchen and backyard then some doucetuber with hollywood production values. Even Potato Jet is sketchy at times and KZbin videos aren't even his bread and butter. He's crafty at leaving out of the bad stuff while looking like he's being critical.

It's amazing, you left your house again! I was missing your outside videos and a bit worried you'd become a hermit. I agree with you on youtubers not being critical on products they receive for free, but on the other end of that scale is trashing a product that you've never used or that hasn't even been released. You did that today while saying in this video that you're always objective about that same company.

I boycotted them long ago for lying, but not for the sponsorship stuff. Their Amazon page during a recent Christmas season had a banner that was openly suggestive that the cameras were the things on sale, but it was the accessories on sale... not the cameras. From what I've seen, the cameras are crap anyway, but that was the last straw. Will never look back! Sad to discover they are doing this hidden sponsorship crap, and I've always wondered how many companies do this sponsorship bs as well. I wonder if many of the big ones don't do it considering how many reviews I've seen that don't claim to be sponsored yet are somehow entirely positive. In theory, it's possible for someone to not have negatives to say about a product, but the shear amount of only-positive reviews out there... the question is begged. It really makes me wonder.

ive been very fortunate to deal with 3 companies , to do sponsorship deals with and they were all really great to work with and appreciated honest feed back on what they sent me. so not good to see this happen and can directly affect so many people trying to do the right thing that rely on this income to support their families. So yes def a boycott for them and be great to see you tube step in with maybe a 12mth ban on their products and channel as a reminder to be honest !
