Great instructional video. Plus the app is excellent too.

Thanks - I know there were verbal stumbles and the sound quality from my new iPhone 12 Mini isn't great - in the future I'll probably video first and then dub over later with my better microphones.

Why don’t you explain the need for the small mirror taped on to your iPad? To me, that’s a key component to this whole thing. Did I miss something? Explain attaching the mirror process and the “why”…
@CameraLucidaApp3 жыл бұрын
Your comment is a good one. I guess I thought it was obvious that if there was no mirror, the camera would just show you your face and not your drawing surface. The mirror simply is used to reflect the drawing surface into the camera so the app can use it to superimpose your reference image with your drawing surface. I won't take that assumption for granted in future videos. Thanks!

I understood the need for the mirror, but how many people have a 1” x1” mirror available? It’s a huge assumption and without “suggesting” where to get these mini-mirrors or how to cut the mirror down to a specific size is a major drawback.

@@TheCombatartist buy an osmo mirror which fits the iPad and cuts out necessity for tape etc. For my iPad Pro it’s a new size and was not available until recently and was only £10 from Amazon - saves a lot of fiddling about with tape and mirrors - use any desk stand

Thank you. I’ve only just bought the app and I'm glad to see that you’re constantly improving the performance. And, most importantly, that it still runs on my old iPad with 9.35 software. Thanks again!

Thanks! I'll be honest - it really makes me happy to hear that people appreciate the effort that goes into supporting older devices. There's more than a little code branching and device recognition going on to make it happen. I still have a couple of iPad 2s that I own and I want to keep them going! I will continue to do my best to keep them supported!

My favourite app it's so useful when tracing out my photo in preparation for painting on my canvas. It's been made even better by the latest updates. I love it. An excellent video explaining the new advanced features.

Can I tell you how much I love this app?! A LOT!! I have 2 Questions: I have an old iPhone 6S and my best friend gave me her 8, my question is will the app be able to get transferred to the 8 or do I need to buy it again. #2. If I buy a iPad one day will I need to buy the app again??
@CameraLucidaApp3 жыл бұрын
Jazzy Jazz, as long as you log into the app store with the same AppleID (email address) you used when you first purchased the app, you can download it without paying for it again. Also, if you set up family sharing (which is free), everyone in your family can install it on all of their devices as well! And, you get free updates for life, I might add!

I don't need no stinking user guide! OH, a user guide, well maybe just a peek. How smart is the guy that made the software for this?

Hi Pete, Just ONE strip of scotch tape held that mirror EXACTLY in place? And how much of an angle is the mirror placed at? (how will I know when I’ve got it right?)
@evilAshTheDog3 жыл бұрын
Yup, just one piece. There's a little seam where the digitizing screen of the iPad is glued to the aluminum case. The edge of the mirror sort of rested in that tiny little slot. One piece of tape was all it needed. As I mention, it took me three attempts to get the angle reasonable. I did this with the iPad in the stand with the camera on (in the camera controls). I just let it flop until the view of the drawing surface was visible on the screen and then I taped it there. It's not necessary to be perfect because the app itself can compensate once your drawing surface is reflected into the camera. I know, so simple, right?

Hey Pete, How are you doing at this "post" pandemic stage in our life? I hope you have kept well. Please remind me or link a reference to how to freeze the focus so that the movement of my hand under the ipad does not constantly try to refocus.
@evilAshTheDog2 жыл бұрын
That should be happening automatically once you hit the button to enter into the drawing mode. Likewise, while in the drawing mode you can hit the upper left focus button to do a one-time focus and lock. A two finger tap will lock the exposure based on where you tap. Maybe you are still in the setup mode… where the app will keep focusing for you as you arrange your drawing surface.?.?!

I purchased the app but I am planning on creating a stand for my iPad. Would you supply a couple of angles? What degree tilt is the iPad as it stands? Also what degree is the mirror on the iPad? My desire is to slide the iPad into a stand and have it ready to go. I don’t want to tape and re-tape the mirror unto the iPad. Thank you very much!
