I just noticed that at 4:12 I commented in the video that the "Front Suspension" really helps soften the ride. The PEBL has rear suspension, not front. Sorry for the error!
@popeyegordon6 жыл бұрын
We forgive you, we know you have the right stuff. But some photos of the front axle assembly seem to indicate an elastomer suspension. It helps but not as much as 3 inch tires.
@ziasright6 жыл бұрын
All pebl only comes with rear suspension or have the option of also having the front?
@EricFischnaller6 жыл бұрын
izaias santos only rear suspension at this point my hope would be that they’ll add it in the future. Front suspension would make handling smoother but rear suspension is where comfort comes from

After 4 years of going car free and relying on my ELF for all transportation I can say you are more likely to stay out of trouble if you have years of bike commuting experience before buying one of these. Beyond basic defensive driving common sense, RULE NUMBER ONE is to always keep your right tire within 2 inches of the far right edge of the road at all times, cars may sneak up on you even when you watch the mirrors a lot. This demonstrates to approaching vehicles from both directions that you intend to share the road as much as possible. Pull off if you back up traffic. In all this time you'd think I would have numerous flat tires from keeping the right tire so close to the road's edge where most of the puncture hazards accumulate and yet I never had a flat on the road (so far) and the only flat was in my driveway on the left wheel.
@JaleelJohanson626 жыл бұрын
Very true about traffic sneaking up on you! That's been my experience as well.

Popeye Gordon Sorry to reply late, If I’m making a left turn on a side road that has a 35 mph limit and there are motorists coming up behind me. I will stop and turn my signal on let them pass and continue my way. No sense i’m pulling out in front of someone going 35 when you’re turning. I also put a horn on my bike and expect the worst from people. If they do something nice wave and carry on your day! Don’t get mad just communicate with your horn!

I was hit by a car when I was 14, laid in a hospital for 5 weeks, then a cast for another 4 months. I also ride bikes FACING traffic so I can see what is coming at me nowadays. Having to be in the right lane in one of these will be a scary experience.

A question: Is the bike a recumbent or are you sitting up? It seems like you're a little higher than that but not completely upright.
@EricFischnaller6 жыл бұрын

Michael Ornduff I just purchased one a week ago. Mine will have the new rear fender and the switch. I also spoke with the rep they can install a speaker system for an additional $250. It’s not a standard option it’s one of the custom options they can do. Kevin was going to install one on his I found out! Mine is still in line for production so I have time to make my mind up about it.

Michael Ornduff Any details mine isn’t being built yet I may get the new one!
@EricFischnaller6 жыл бұрын
Hi all, I believe the "new PEBL" that J Drum and Michael are talking about isn't really a new product like the PEBL 2.0, but rather just the evolution of the current PEBL. The features I outlined in the last video are things they're building into the new ones, so if you were to order today, you'll get those features and any new things that come up between now and then. Because they're literally only 50-55 PEBLs into production models, there's a lot of iteration happening such as the On-Road and Off-Road (750watt / 1500watt) switch, the new fender, updated seat rail, etc. If that sounds good, order now. I believe lead times right now are about 6-8 months so considerably shorter than when I ordered, but still a wait.
@EricFischnaller6 жыл бұрын
You'll get the "new" version - or whatever updates and iterations that happen between now and right before yours gets produced.

I like the simplicity of my Flintstone gear but envy your turn signal beeper, it is too easy to forget and leave the signals on. I like my little dingaling bell on the handlebar because the horn is too loud in many cases, I'd rather ring when passing or seeing others on trails, or just making a friendly hello gesture without taking my hands off the steering. It's less startling for them.
@EricFischnaller6 жыл бұрын
I agree completely, The horn on my PEBL is pretty loud and sharp and just put my head out the window slightly and say "on your left" for passing since it's less startling.
@loanauditscal6 жыл бұрын
Or just add a bike bell to the handle bar. I love the option of a loud horn. A motorcyclist I know had the idle turned up on his bike so he would be louder so that cars would be more aware of him. I'm in LA so being noticed is important as people on the road here are easily distracted. I've seen lots of bikes of this kind but I think the Pebl is one of the best ones.
@popeyegordon6 жыл бұрын
Loan - maybe you noticed the handlebar on the PEBL is very short. It could be tricky to find room for the bell clamp but yes it is handy and I'm glad I have both horn and bell because I hate to make loud sounds if avoidable. Noise pollution sucks too.
@EricFischnaller6 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend a bar-end bell on the PEBL since as Popeye pointed out there's already a lot on the bar. They're the twist-type and work pretty well.

Another great, informative video! Always pleased when you have a new one posted. I did not know about the back up beeping sound or that the turn signals beep the same sound. Most bikes have a bottle cage for drinks so I think I would like one some where. Also, would a phone or GPS mount stay stuck on the plastic wind screen. I notice you have nothing on the flat dash area. Does stuff just fall off the edge? Would a lip need to be added to keep sunglasses and such from falling down? What parts and tools do you always have in the bike. I am thinking air pump and spare tire kind of things. What insurance is used by most owners that really use their bikes instead of cars? Thank you.
@popeyegordon6 жыл бұрын
Velosurance is complete coverage for bikes. I used it the first year but had no claim and relaxed a bit about the ELF experience. Some things you just add where your personal preference dictates like eyeglass rack or water. I carry a half gallon because a hot weather repair could be draining or you might have to walk a ways.
@EricFischnaller6 жыл бұрын
Personally, I have mine insured through my homeowner's insurance. There wasn't a rider available with my home insurance so its just under my comprehensive which is very robust. I don't think you'd be able to put a mount on the windscreen without damaging it, however it'd be an easy thing to either add an adhesive magnet mount, or a clamp style that would clamp onto the handlebar. I always keep 2 tire levers, extra tube, multi-tool bike specific and multi-tool general, crescent wrench, tire patch kit, and bicycle pump in the back of my PEBL. For the dash, you can put lightweight stuff up there, but it quickly slides towards the front of the windscreen and it's hard to get to until you've stopped so I just don't put stuff up there. If I need to put something somewhere I just slide it under my seat since there's a full floor. I have a water-bottle - running squeeze type that I keep under the seat so I can easily reach it and don't have to worry about spills.
@EricFischnaller6 жыл бұрын
Oh, and the beeping sound doesn't happen when I back up. That's only an indicator for turning left or right.

Hi Eric, Do you want to sell your PEBL bike? Let me know!!! I will pay what you have paid. Better Bike, Inc is a scam. Please check when the last time Better Bike deliver the bike to customers who put down substantial amount of money. PEBL 1.0 or 2.0 was never deliver as of today 12/24/24. For some reason, people still put down money in hope of receiving the bike. This had been going for a long time now. Take down your post, ass whole.
