I had the offset about a half inch over to the drum side of my rim. The tire was almost hitting the swing arm. I didn't pay attention to how important that offset is. Had to take the tire back off again and loosen 1 side and tighten the other about 8 times but I think I'm good now.

Great video thank you I install the tube a little different I put tire on rim one side... then install rim lock it's hard to get in there but you can do it... you can slip it in then need to hold up on tire to push rim lock through rim and start nut. after that I install tube then put a couple pounds of air in tube and finish getting tire over the bead. with the air pressure in there you will not pinch tube cause as tire goes over bead it pushes on inflated tube and keeps it out of the way. not a lot of pressure in tube couple pounds to make firm. hope that helps really frustrating doing all the work and getting a leak

Hi Cameron, I bougth a new set of spokes (all the same size) from my rear wheel. Also bought a hub from the same brand. But I noted that sprocket side diameter on the hub is larger than the rotor brake side. So, when i install the spokes then the rim is offset to the side of the rotor brake. Do you have any recommendation?

Hey Cam, i have a rear wheel im wanting to restore,the spokes are slightly rusty but if you run your hand along them you dont feel that nasty feeling when they are rusted to oblivion, i would rather clean the spokes and avoid any relacing,im not good at that plus i dont have the equipment, i was wondering,could i sand those spokes with something like 400 grit and then paint them with some kind of durable high heat paint? the rim itself is not bad at all and could use some polishing, i know it would be hard with the spokes in place but its doable,i also have access to a big bead blaster at my job if that would help my project? How would you go about it? thank you so much for your time,if you think the wheel is better of being relaced i can take the whole thing down and clean it and then take it somewhere and have them do the lacing part, the bike was sitting for many years but like i said the wheels are not bad like you would find in a bike thats been in a jungle or something like that,lol, thank you much for your time.

great vid mang.. baby powder will not last that long or work that well.. for tube/tire lube i use some grease and then wipe/smear it around in the tire with a small rag and engine oil. just don't use too much oil or it'll leak out a bit til its good to go! NEVER get a flat again/for the most part
@GCorona327 жыл бұрын
As always good information. I would like to add a few additional steps that I do which is applying some assembly lube in the spoke holes of the hub and the shank of the nipple. When reapplying used bolts check the bolt for straightness and fatigue, clean any corrosive film and apply thin coat of grease or assem. lube. Basically, clean, lube and protect everything.

ok...a couple questions before I try and tackle this on the xr250 which has a severe bent rear rim. First off...I asked this on another video: I can try to true the rear rim with the tire and while its mounted on the bike by Hopefully adjusting the necessary spokes, correct? Any tips? And the other question I have it when remounting the tire, up to what pressure is ok to seat the bead? Last time I mounted a tire on the xr, I had up to 40 psi in there, and we still couldn't seat it, so I tried using my body weight and that's what ultimately got the rim bent/out of true. Thanks again....any help appreciated to we can avoid having start completely over. I have never taken the spokes off and relaced a wheel, so I'm trying to avoid that step if at all possible. But I bookmarked this video just in case.
@CameronNiemela7 жыл бұрын
If the rim is bent, it'll need replacement. However if it's out of true that's a different story. You can definitely true a wheel when it's on the bike. The tips in this video is all you'll need to do this. Most of the times to seat the bead you'll have to use some sort of lubricant, dish soap or windex works great.
@rbljackson7 жыл бұрын
We used the dish soap trick, and got up to 40 PSI but still had a spot where the tire would not bead properly....should I have gone to 50? Also, my other question may not have been clear...sorry about that. What I was trying to ask is can a wheel be trued with the tire still mounted on the rim, or does it have to be removed? Thanks for your responses, they are helping me learn the ropes! Oh..side note, I got all the work done on the CRF using your videos and had it out for a spin this weekend! Got tons of complements on the upgrades. Now if I could only ride as good as the bike looks....LOL..id be all set!
@CameronNiemela7 жыл бұрын
Sorry meant to say you can indeed true a wheel with the tire on. No issues there. Yeah you can keep adding pressure until the beat seats completely. Pretty hard to blow out a tube before seating the bead. Great to hear the videos are helping out! Really appreciate you watching and commenting.
