my first tire change ever on my xr100 i popped 2 front tubes and the back tire was so dry rotted i had to cut it off. i have gotten a lot better since then.

Glad you showed the front! The rear is pretty easy. But the front, if you don’t know what you’re doing, is a difficult. That tool is awesome

Credit to you Sir for owning up to that little scratch on the rim. It gives a warning to those who care about scratches, not me though I scratch them more while riding.

That looks so easy. My last change was terrible. After years of relying on mechanics I had forgotten about all the little tricks to make it easy. The sweat the poured off me was insane!
@kymstock18522 жыл бұрын
I carry this tool on my longer trips within an old sock in my panniers. The bike I was riding had a 17 " wheel and I had a Motoz Adventure rear tyre on it. Those are hard to fit, being stiff in the sidewall. You do need to practice using this tool. As luck would have it, I didn't get any punctures on the " Big Trip" but I did get to use the tool on other rider's bikes. My fee was one beer per tyre. On an 18 " wheel / smaller tyres I probably would keep this tool at home.

I just mounted up a D606 this month and it was so much easier with a Baja No Pinch. If you need a little extra help use a couple of bar clamps to squeeze the beads of the tire together.

Damn that tool made it look so much easier and safer on the rim 👌 nicely done.
@jwilson1500hd5 жыл бұрын
I ordered a baja and used it yesterday for the first time. At the last little bit it seemed to want to dig into the tire instead of pushing it down onto the rim. It was a gummy "cheater" tire. Maybe a regular tire wood work better or maybe it was user error. Tire was warm and i used plenty of lube, watched several vids and followed instructions still had to end up spooning the last bit onto the rim
@Imthewestwelder6 жыл бұрын
Just to make it even easier, use the powder and apply to the tire/tube before installing👌helps to get the tube move in the tire instead of stretching. Love the videos. Being a mechanic I love seeing tools that make the process easier.👍glad your doing good.

I had been mt biking for a few years when I bought another dirt bike. After changing mt bike tires for years I figured it would be just as easy on a dirt bike. Boy, was I wrong! After much cursing and sweating, I finally got the new tube and tire on....and then I found out I pinched the tube!

Another great video, sweet looking wheels man! When I got new tires and heavy duty tubes I was wondering why there are 2 valve stem nuts. What is the reason for one nut to be on the inside of the rim? I read somewhere that tubes are male so that's why they have 2 nuts...... made sense :)

I am restoring a 94 Kawasaki KX125 and the tyres were stiff as a board. I had to cut a section out of each tyre with a hacksaw and then cut through the beads with an angle grinder. The new tyres aren't exactly playing ball either, could really use a tool like this.

There should be NO NUT on the inside of the tube. Remove BOTH nuts so the beveled washer is directly against the rim. The washer is specifically designed to fit against the rim. This is attributed to an email from Michelin, on an Ariel forum: The conical washer sits over the inner tube valve stem and should follow the contour of the valve so that the convex side sits against the wheel rim when fitting. Once fitted to the wheel the two lock nuts sit on the valve cap side of the wheel rim. After fitment and inflation to the correct pressure, the two nuts should be backed up towards the valve cap, and locked against each other. This is not usually an issue on correctly inflated road going tyres, but should there be any slippage of tyre on the rim, during heavy braking or acceleration for example, the inner tube could be pulled around slightly with the tyre and if the inner tube is bolted to the rim the valve can be ripped out. If the lock nuts are raised towards the valve cap then inner tube has some leeway to move before this happens. Any movement is thus obvious as the valve stem will no longer be straight and pointing at the centre of the hub, but will be pulled round at an angle.
