Well Vanessa, following your method was the quickest I've changed a mousse tyre but I can only draw 2 conclusions. I am a heavy handed oaf or you have magical powers. I could not do it half as effectively as you on a fairly stiff Mitas C17. My second mousse change with a Rabaconda. First one on a rear took me a miserable couple of hours. Now the front, following your video, about half an hour. And I used mounting lube, whilst you didn't. I am going back to you have magical powers.
@TheGirlOnABike2 жыл бұрын
haha I wish I could say I have magical powers! haha Although, let's go with that just because it makes me feel magical haha. To be honest.. I spent hours in lock-down just practicing so it's probably just down to sheer resilience trying over and over until I got faster hehe
@TheIdlesurfer2 жыл бұрын
@The Girl On A Bike I practice my innertube changes and can do one in about 10 minutes with a Baja No Pinch, Motion Pro levers and hand sanitiser gel as lube on a Motoz Rallz. But yours was damned impressive. I'm a big lump and what your demo showed me was brute force really doesn't help. Shall we just say you have magical powers and I'm not a clumsy oaf?

This system is much more sophisticated. I cut of mine in June and put some new Dunlap on with three spoons.

Wow I bet cutting through the tyre wall took some work? Yeah its amazing how much Easter any job can be with the tools that help and the technique. Good effort

I have watched many Rabaconda videos and have yet to see anyone fitting a NEW Bib mousse into a NEW Desert Race tyre. The sheer ease with which Girl on a Bike gets the bottom lip of the old tyre/mousse onto the wheel (at 5:45) bears ZERO resemblance to the reality of doing this with new mousse/tyre combination.
@TheGirlOnABike Жыл бұрын
that's a fair comment, I've changed many new ones too and I'd recommend using some water on the bead but the same technique 100% works

Hello Vanessa...I just got a Rabacondra and was using it to take a tubed TKC 80s off an 18 inch rear rim....broke the bead with hardly any effort, got the first tyre edge off the Rim using the tire irons, flipped the wheel, but when I went to use the Rabaconda bead breaker/arm to push the tyre and tube down over and off the 2nd edge of the Rim I found the sharp teeth/edge of the bead breaker was digging into and cutting/gouging the top face of the tyre...had to give up using the Rabaconda and get the tire fully off the old fashioned way ....vertically on the ground using two tyre irons and my knee. Any thoughts on what I was doing wrong ?? Carl.

Just did my first mousse on front tyre. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Seemed like it took me hours. Have to do the rear now having seen your vid. OMG.....picked up a few pointers but bemoaning the lack of proper tools.

Another great video. Looks a little more complicated than fitting a 700C tyre on my road bike 😀 Having said that there is probably not a lot in it if you go tubeless! Not having done any off stuff before, do you have to balance the wheel/tyre after fitting a new tyre?

soapy water makes it much easier also pushing the bead into the center of rim give you more slack too

Thanks for the tips. I avoid water with mousses as you won't want water in the tyre, window cleaner is pretty good as it evaporates but thankfully with this machine you barely need any effort anyway

I was hoping it was a tire with a tube, it must be a whole different process with a tube.
@TheGirlOnABike3 жыл бұрын
No it's not too differed. Put in the tube and fill with enough air for it to hold its space. Then you can do the same process. Just be careful not to punch the tube
