So happy that a fellow pilgrim found it and you got it back.

I would have totally freaked out! But in prep I already Dymo labeled my phone with my email adress, and will do the same with the passport and other valuables, both phone no and email adress... have a safe rest of the camino!

I got my passport destroyed by water damage once. I now zip it in two waterproof bags! I also keep it in a money belt close to me body where I can constantly check its whereabouts. I did the Camino frances in June this year. The weather was perfect and the albergues were half full. No need to book ahead.

If your guardian Camino angel had not found and returned your passport, I think (sometimes dangeroso) you would’ve had to get to a consulate or the embassy en Madrid to get a new one. A friend recently had his nipped in Barcelona on his birthday on a Friday. He was to return to the States on Sunday. He went to the consulate in Barca, told his story, the official told him to come back at 3PM. Done deal. Happy birthday 🎉🎊🎁. And btw, the new one is temporary, had a purple cover and needs to be replaced within a year. Before he left Barcelona, he saw a few other gringos with purple passports. Mucho ojo, eh?👀

Good to know. My travel is always open-ended, so I wasn't too worried. I figured they probably know how to deal with it. Must happen all the time.

@@allanmorgan6420 Big day. Don't know where I got the energy. Feet and knees felt 20 years old again.

@@TheCaminoGuideI’m so glad you got your passport back! I was staying in a B & B in Porto, Portugal this spring break and a French- Canadian woman had lost her passport, phone and credit cards! It’s my worst nightmare! I was the only one that spoke French so I helped her the best I could. Bigger fear is that lost and stolen passports are used in the black market. I went with her to the Portuguese police to report everything lost. Fortunately, she got everything replaced a few days later and her new credit cards were sent to her. I hope to walk the Camino some day. I am so impressed that you are doing it. Adrenaline can certainly give one the energy we had when we were 20! Bueno Camino!
