Hey Gerrit, your first two Camino's were very similar : excellent company, great meals together with newly made friends, not too many physical problems and nice beds to sleep in. This one is different. I'm so happy you didn't give up yet. This might be the one that might give you the most in the end. Of course you'll have to listen to your body and what it is able to cope with, but if you still manage to reach Santiago this time, the view of the cathedral will be so much more fulfilling as the two times you've been through this emotion before. I hope you will be able to make it. The experience might go so much deeper as anything you've achieved before. Ultreia!!!

yes this one’s a different animal in every respect - and despite the difficulties, I appreciate it as part of the experience. I have not given a thought at giving up, things will look up again. No one said it was going to be easy! 😃 It’s all an intense and interesting experience. OK now I also wish I could take some solid foods in again 😄

Hope you are feeling better today and slowly gaining your strength back. Could have been something in the water you drank but often gastroenteritis is contracted by touching something someone else did who did not practice proper hand hygiene after going to the washroom. You are doing all the right things, respecting what your body can and cannot do. Thank you for sharing even this experience, keeping this series so very authentic.

yeah i’ll never find out, but at least i’m slowly getting better. these things take time.. no use and pushing it when unnecessary… and i feel like this, too, needs to be documented. I don’t want embellishment. thank you!

Sending you wishes for a speedy recovery. Thank you for continuing to share these diaries, no matter what. I'm watching avidly every day as I was meant to be leaving from SJPDP on 4th May (postponed until end of August now), around the time you started. It means a lot to me to witness this journey. These experiences could be me, could be any of us. Sharing vulnerabilities and fallibility as well as triumphs only connects us all on a deeper level, so thank you.

hi Laura, yes, I remember you had to postpone due to unfortunate circumstances 😔 … but it’s great that you’re keeping your eyes on it - you will walk the Camino soon. And no one ever said it was going to be easy … but that’s also part of the point. you’ll love it! And thank you for the wishes & encouragement

thank you patricia! A pilgrim who is a pharmacist recommended taking probiotic powder, in order to restore my gut health, and I don’t know if that is what did the trick, but I feel noticeably better since about two hours. and will hopefully now get a good night of sleep

Watching the previous video one knew what was coming. You are so right in saying the Camino is not a test of endurance. The ego does not like to give up or fail- so we push ourselves on as though it matters. The Camino as you know is not the destination but the journey. You are on some journey! Expectations. The video reminds me to have courage to live in the moment and accept that we are after all only human. The Camino provides, it takes, it teaches. I remember I saw graffiti on a wall somewhere on the Meseta: “men make plans and the Gods laugh”. Hopefully, you will be back on the road soon again. If possible try the Verde Albergue in Hospital De Orbison, great homegrown organic food will sooth your stomach. Buen Camino.

yes, there was no way of denying the hand i was dealt, and i did the only sensible thing: stop for a few days. slowly recovering now… but it was pretty violent 🤨😬

Our great Camino hero has fallen ill. Your videos are appealing because they are real, no sugarcoating. The water situation is a bit scary or very scary in your case. It's nice that you have a good private apartment to recuperate. Here's to better health in the coming days. It was interesting to see the roads of the Camino from your taxi ride.
@storiestellr7 ай бұрын
it was quite the knockout indeed… but having this apartment is great. I can just relax and eat my oatmeal 😄 - i can eat again! progress…. not sure I can walk tomorrow I might add another day
@blakesmith2577 ай бұрын
@@storiestellr You are going from being sick to turning into a horse. Many servings of oats and in three days you'll be trotting along the Camino.

I’ve added another day here, i’m just not up for it yet - but I’m also uploading a local movie, so your like button doesn’t get grumpy from neglect. should go online in about an hour.

@@storiestellr Oh good, keep the grumpiness at bay. The viewers need an energy score from 1 to 1000. My guess is that your best Camino energy was on the 100km day. But the scoring is tricky because your internal energy was probably the highest around 8-20 km when you were perfectly warmed up. Your energy expended score was highest at the end. I digress. What was the energy score a couple days ago when the alien water took hold and what is your energy score now?

Good to hear your are on the mend. Take your time and don‘t force anything. On one of my visits to Spain I also had a bad gut problem, which kept persisting. I took some medication there and then (some kind of antibiotics even), but it wouldn‘t disappear. So, back home I saw my doc, and he prescribed me some other antibiotics, which then did the trick. I mention this just in case, but hope this does not apply in your case. I think back then I had eaten some flan (containing egg), which wasn‘t fresh anymore. During my last Camino I ate a meal consisting of calamaris and a salad … one of which must have been the culprits … with a pretty immediate effect, but I wasn‘t quite as sick as you have been. Still, it ruined the day somehow, to say the least. Previously I only drunk bottled water, during my last Camino I mostly used tap water. So, who knows. Shit can happen anywhere, I guess. Get better now, as we want to see more of your beautifully filmed Camino adventures. 😊

oh dear…. well, it is slowly retreating, but I’m not quite ready to walk yet. The energy isn’t there, and also I need the proximity of certain services which isn’t exactly a given during the walk to Hospital de Obrigo 😄 So fingers crossed it keeps getting better …

Last year on the Norte I fell ill to bad water. It was brutal so I know exactly how you feel. I had 5 days left to go and I made myself do it. I couldn’t eat or drink anything. I made it home to CA and ended up at the emergency room. I couldn’t take it anymore after trying everything to keep things down. 13 days and 13 pounds lost. You need an antibiotic asap. 3 pills…3 days. Good luck

du kannst ein Lavalier anschließen, aber mehr geht aufgrund der Größe nicht. Dafür ist er einfach zu klein und auch nicht dazu gedacht. aber für den geplanten Einsatzzweck einfach ein fantastisches Gerät.
