Something a lot of people forget is that ungulates (deer & elk family of animals) are brown for a reason. They aren't black. They aren't green. And they disappear in the mountains and the woods. Take your eyes off them for a second and they are gone. Brown, khaki and other lighter colors are an excellent base that you can darken later, as is mentioned in this video so long as they are light colors that match your environment (again mentioned in this video). These videos are phenomenal by the way. Some of the best content in the community. Outstanding job guys.

Thought provoking topic, mission accomplished. Being a Army Combat Veteran through the M81, ACU to Multicam/OCPs eras. I struggle to justify away from M81. Do to job changes, in the past 6 years, I've lived in the suburbs from So Cal, Vegas, Arkansas, now west coast Florida. Everything in environment, through all 4 seasons, my eyeline from the ground level to 6 feet is shrubbery. Green manicured suburban landscaping. As I walk, ruck, run, drive around, take pictures and contingency plan, I cannot see any alternatives other than M81, with light colored scrim for texture and dimension. Strong work gentleman.

I agree!! I've steered 6-man outrigger canoes since I was a teenager in Hawaii and California (now 50). My teams always used bike tire innertubes to secure the 'Iakos to the canoe and to the Ama. If it it works in giant ocean swells, it'll suit your land needs.

I went with a cheap amazon boars head jacket this year. Made to look like fur of a boar. We have black bears, black wolves, and black fishers, but I am in dark black old growth forest swamps of the north. Where it's some times hard to tell if it's a tree stump or a black bear. Also a big fan of plain snow white camo. A little snow and the deer stand out and I blend in with the snow. Paint your rifle or bow. I did a bark paint job on my bow. I like the rattle cans with small 1/4 or smaller round netting and many coats for painting rifles. I find cedar and pine trees work good for cover scents. I use apple cover scent for hunting over bait. I even leave vehicle windows cracked during hunting season. I love my thermal. Helps for finding game too. It sucks in the fog off the swamps and the daily mid morning fog as forest floor dries up. The movement or outline is what catches my eye. I got some great pics of fisher cats over a deer kill at 60 yds. The black shape is what I noticed. Not a bear or stump bear or a bear behind a stump. All can be hard to tell at distance even with thermal. The dead deer was well cooled plus blended in and hard to see in pics.

In my area I have a blend of prairie grasses and woodlands. So based upon what I'm hearing here any equipment I get should probably be Coyote or something lighter (not sure what that would be). During the summer months stuff some grass or leaves everywhere and during the winter months less grass as the colors are close to natural, and just enough to break up my pattern?

I feel the comment was dodged.. “is there a pattern that is the best” he went off into colors and environment but avoided patterns all together.. certain patterns break up the eyes response.. MARPAT is one.. your eye sees in pixels.. this breaks up the pattern into pixels and makes it harder for your eye to see.. now the ACU color scheme of this was horrible.. but the idea is effective.. US marines, navy, Dutch, Russia, Romania, Belgium and German winter uniform, Australian navy all use digital.. also if you take a picture of them just standing around not even trying to hard you ca. see them blend it rather well..
