Camp Trailer Gets UPGRADES!! Lightweight DIY Overland Trailer Part 9

Today's video we do some upgrades to the camp trailer build!
I know we only used it once but these upgrades are worth the effort.
First we are removing the 100ah lifepo4 battery and replacing it with two mini 100ah lifepo4 batteries. This will give us 200ah worth of battery storage.
I added a shore power port that will allow me to charge the batteries with 120v ac power via a 10 amp battery charger from eco worthy.
Finally the part I'm most excited for is the 500a smart shunt from Fusion Energy! This will show exactly how much power we are drawing and supplying back to the batteries though an app for your phone.

Hmmm you could mount the 100 full size batt to power the heater for a LONG time. 👍 OR just use it as a dedicated cooler power supply. Or use the dual batts as your main draw power source. OK, MORE POWER! 😁👍🤓

Another excellent video, I really like that shunt totally B.A.! Speaking of bad ass that oil cooler placement is so spot on its not even funny! So I bought the same crimpers and they were still in the box on my folding table with my bug parts and when I was working on the s10 making the power cable for the power distribution center I only found the hammer style crimper I have. Needless to say I found it again when I was cleaning up my mess after the truck was running 🤣

You can always wire in that third battery and run your cooler off of that since it demands more power

True however having 200ah just recently proved to be more than enough when I can go 18 hours and only use just under 20% capacity.

Man-o-man...thats some good stuff. Definately cool doubling the power on that beast, I figured you had enough to begin with! I do like the shunt you added. That's pretty sweet being able to monitor the flow of electrons. It's crazy how your adding all those controllers and stuff. I guess that's part of thr whole-trailer system. You'll need a folder on your phone that keeps all the apps that connects with the trailer. Anyway, very cool man. Keep that Electec battery for me!😂😂 Oh yeah, MOPOWA

I probably had enough with the single battery but I plan on doing some longer trips and I don’t have a dc to dc charger so having the extra potential is nice and don’t have time worry about discharging too much. The shunt is pretty cool, nice to see exactly what’s going on. On a recent cano trip, I lost sun around 4:30pm and the batteries were at 99%. Ran the heater, fridge, lights, charged phones, cameras, etc all night. Next morning the storm was rolling in so we packed up and left. Get home and started unpacking and looked at the data around 11am and only used 20% of the capacity. So far I only have 2 apps, one for the solar and one for the shunt. I don’t plan on adding anymore than that lol

@@VWJawbreaker it seems that the shunt will help monitor the solar output...so unless your needing specific data, the shunt one seems like it'll cover your bases. Don't forget, even without direct sunlight, solar should give ya something... not sure about the efficiency of it, but when your on a long trip, something is better than nothing! Lol
