Dr. Catel talks about the British focus on nations further up north including the Sokoto Caliphate and Federick's Lugard's role in initiating the attack.
BNH is going to be like a crash course (or an edutainment series) on Nigerian history using animation and clever commentary in order to educate and entertain. Along the way it will also touch on other parts of West African history.

Wow it makes sense now. I always wondered when I see those felt hat hat worn by Turkish or Moroccan people, that's where it actually originated from. It's funny how people don't realise a lot of things that we may see as part of our culture in Nigeria is also other people's culture somewhere else. The irony of what the red hat actually represents and what it represents in present say Nigeria. I always laugh when we Nigerians are always going on about Ankara even though it's the Dutch that introduced it to West Africa and it is originally from Indonesia. I have seen a few Indonesians in the UK wearing their own traditional Batik shirts and I'm like hmm this is so similar to the patterned Ankara print without realising that quite a lot of printed fabric originated from Asia . It is very important for us to keep educating ourselves. Thank you for your channel, It keeps me informed on why and how Nigeria is the way it is. You need to make a Nigerian History book for secondary schools because God knows I did not learn any of this in school. The Curriculums teaches nonsense.

There was a time when Sub Saharan Africa was doing better technologically and economically then Eurasia many still find that hard to believe even with all the evidence given to them

The whole thing was to create mining and imperial real estate to fuel/dominate the British imperial trade (a bye product of the industrial revolution),

How about you do a seperate video for igbo vs British conflict. This is annoying that you put it all under sokoto. And no the Aro were not “easily” defeated.
