that's batch 3. The first batch was released in 2021 - 8 Dec 2021 bottling code 21/206; followed by batch 2 25 July 2022 code 22/150 - both primarily bb. then batch 3 22/196 on 3 October 22; batch 4 22/231 on 24 November 2022; and batch 5 23/50 bottled on 7 March 2023. Batch 6 is due to be released tomorrow so I dont know the bottling code yet :) - with Mitchell's they'll often do seperate batches for overseas markets. You'll remember the tropical SB10 you reviewed - that was only released in mainland Europe & North America. Always a great idea to give the batch codes with any Springbanks as there is no attempt at matching the releases - each batch will be unique :)

Its funny I actually bought both bottles when I was in Scotland and flew them back to the states. Well worth the money. 10/10 would do it again.

Hound…the Loch started off at Total Wine in Az at a price of $85.00 🤦🏻 It has since been lowered to $72.00….i reluctantly purchased a bottle (knowing across the pond these are about £35-40) Now i still wish it was a $50-55 bottle but all said I love it! A perfect cigar dram….great vid as always!!!

I got a bottle of this but haven't opened it yet, a bit more pricey in NY. Then I found the old Campbelltown Loch at a store for like 25-30 bucks, the 40% abv version. Gonna crack them open to compare someday.

Campbeltown Loch: I have batch 2 to 6 here. Bought them after I enjoyed batch 5 (23/50 of March 23) a lot. Around 40 Euros. Didn't like batch 2 though. As it is a blended malt, you really get different whiskies with every batch. So do some research and know what you like about Campbeltown.

Grant and Dave (allen) was telling me the first batches included a bigger GS content. From 3 onwards they've dialled up the sherried content and now heavily on KK, these days there's practically just a teaspooned level of GS in the blends

How do you tell what batch number each one is? I have a uk release and don't see any indication...

So I can’t remember exactly where I saw all that info, but the dates on the Batch 2’s are around 3/10/2022. The Batch 3 & 4’s are much darker, and probably get that from the heavier Kilkerran content. Those are still solid btw. Cheers!

any experience with auction houses? I'm US based and tentative

I have and you really just have to watch for house buyer fees, shipping charges, and some occasional odd bottle rules (like you have to buy so many before they ship). Cheers!

Hi Chris, I can't believe you censored my comment which was just some polite & constructive criticism, to inform your viewers, within the usual praise of your channel I do, it is very disappointing coming from you...or was it a mistake ? Please explain, because this was all about facts, not my opinions, mind you...

I haven’t even seen it Greg, but I’ve been backed up. Let me see if I can find it (as you should know I wouldn’t be like that). Cheers!

I don’t have anything from you Greg - except your comment from 2 months ago. Feel free to repost it as I always appreciate your comments and any constructive criticism. Cheers!

Thanks Chris@@LiquorHound what happened remains mysterious indeed....I was just saying that "Campbeltown Loch" started as a Blended Scotch Whisky (unlike what you stated), so not a Blended Malt when it was first launched around the 1990s (i still have a bottle of it, with some left in it-and it is stated in Charles MacLean "The Pocket Whisky book", a precious source of info book published in 1993) & about "The Octave", it is not an independent bottler, but a special range from the independent bottler Duncan Taylor (from which I own a bottle too, but not of the Octave range currently but I tried quite some over the years). Now, the thing is even when i go full screen, I have noticed that it doesn't seem that your bottle of Royal Brackla states it is D.T. owned, like the EU releases (in which there is a big silkscreen mention on the top of the bottle, under the neck, so it might be a US bottling that has different marketing/design, but normally, in the label bottom it should legally state it is from Duncan Taylor...I'll be interested to see if it names them or not on the front or back label...
