Thank you for your comment. In the past week 3 pubs in that area have shut their doors - it’s so sad. My dad took my mum there when they were “courting” we need to help our communities - if that means I have to have a drink or three and or a breakfast or 3 count me in 😂😂😂 Rachel & David x

What lovely memories Rachel, made me remember the hours I would spend in my grand fathers shed and it's own unique smell with huge Lupins outside the window, wasn't as enamoured with the outside loo or Izal toilet paper. Food at the George looked good. Cheers K.

Isn’t it strange the things that you remember? Do you grow lupins now? For me it was the key to the church it was huge! Omg yes! The toilet paper! My gran had like a knitted doll over the toilet roll 😂 Rachel x

@@LeisureBit We do have Lupins now but not that successful, usually eaten by aphids. I think everyone had those dolls on the spare loo roll, also a great line in Only Fools & Horses after Marlene had a boob job.

Driven through Piercebridge many times after delivering to a customer in Barnard Castle, but never walked around it. The George was closed for ages, then building work started, and it reopened will have to give it a try, if its dog friendly inside. The Roman bridge looks a bit lost now the river has moved 🙂 Gorgeous little church and nice story there from Rachel. All the best Trev Debz and Tyler

Thanks guys it was lovely to go back. My dad used to take my mum to the pub when they were courting too. It was the only dance floor in the area with a spring loaded floor 💃 I was gutted about the footage as I don’t like dark, confined spaces so I really pushed myself to do it. But never mind. Thank you for your lovely words Rachel x

Thank you for the comment. It’s sometimes nice in this busy life to stop and reflect and going to The George and the places nearby that I used to go brought back so many memories for me. It was freezing 😂 but the whole house was! Pre heating days so there was a tiny electric heater on the bathroom wall (& a toilet roll cover with a dress and doll on!) and me and my sister used to insist on a bolster pillow between us in the bed to stop us bickering 😂😂😂 Rachel xxx

I liked it best when Gran lit the fire downstairs & I would go all soporific staring into the flames. It made going to bed in the freezing cold hard though!

Nice to support the pub. I remember that song about the clock 🤣. Do like a haunted building. Breakfast looked good. Incredible that so much of the Roman bridge still remains. Interesting hearing about your connection with the garden centre. What a great thing to be able to visit the church where you played as a child too. Fascinating church. Graham used to ring bells in our local church. Nice sharing your memories and also how to stay at the George 👍😊

Wow - that’s great you remember the song about the clock - funny how things are connected - the place definitely had a character about it and so much history in the area from Roman times. Morning Joanne & Paul! I go to Sam Turners quite a bit still. Especially for the cafe 😂 and I do like a potter about the plants 🌱 Keep a look out for my mums bench when you go. It was outside a couple of weeks ago but they are trying to find a permanent position for it. I can’t believe I didn’t know about the bridge ruins - it’s quite interesting. Thanks guys - I loved the stopover and doing things that mean something to me - mums bench being the highlight! I hate heights, I hate confined spaces and I really pushed myself to go up the tower- the guy guiding me did a great job showing me everything and all lost!
