Thanks Tim - it’s such a lovely area with so much to see and do plus pubs in walking distance. The Crown used to be full and it’s such a shame to see it so quiet. The owners are so friendly and the food was amazing. I really do think we need to support the areas we visit ❤ How are you guys?

@@LeisureBit yes not too bad thanks with plenty going off but trying to get out in the van soon. Glad to see you getting plenty of trips in.

Great video. It is lovely food at the Crown and at the Rose and Crown in Romoldkirk. Cow green reservoir in upper Teesdale is well worth a visit too. Roxy enjoyed that walk best wishes 👍🐶

Thanks Colin they are both beautiful places aren’t they! Roxy loved the old railway line - although I think it’s the first time she hadn’t had a paddle - I suppose mud counts too though! 😂 Cow Green is on our list - I have never been there! I hope you are all ok Rachel, David & Roxy

Looks lovely, and a few pubs, a big bonus 🙂 Looks like you got good weather as well, very lucky 🙂 Such a beautiful part of our wonderful country. The C L site looked brilliant, nice big pitches, although £30 !! expensive for a C L site ??

It’s a lovely site with so much to see and do on the doorstep! We thought £30 seemed steep until we had been there but the toilets / showers were 24 hours, immaculate and v warm. Having 2 pubs in walking distance is a bonus. The views were spectacular and Tyler would love the old railway line 💕 We would go back! Any news on your van? Rachel, David & Roxy x

Hi David Rachel and Roxy a lovely video again and what a stunning location for a break I bet there some great walks around there and the reservoirs add to the beauty I think If you are ever down country you should go to the Elan Valley in mid wales which is equally pretty and has a very interesting visitor centre and history The villages you went to looked great and the pubs as well so inviting and I bet they do well from the camp site! I must say I was initially thinking of Mickleton in the Cotswolds near to me and that is an equally stunning place I think you would like! Looking forward to the next video it looked like you all enjoyed yourselves it’s on to add to my list when I visit my brother take care Daniel

Hi Danielle thank you for your lovely comments. Ohhhh we plan to go to Wales this year. Is there a nice camp site near by? Is there a Mickleton in the Cotswold too? If it’s as pretty we may need to check that one out! We had a great time - can’t beat a site with stunning view and 2 pubs in walking distance 😂 Thank you so much for your kind feedback Rachel, David & Roxy

@@LeisureBit Hi David and Rachel yes the elan valley is lovely and mid wales in general you can go through the mountains and down to the coast at aberdovey Barmouth Fairborne or Aberystwyth I believe you can park by the reservoirs and stay overnight there is loads of choice all round there The Cotswolds are lovely so many lovely places to see from broadway and steam railway to bourton on water stow winchcombe chipping camp den and mickleton amongst many others I well recommend it! Oh yes got to find a lovely pub or two I agree! Take care all of you Daniel

We regularly stay at Doe Park in Cotherstone which is a working farm and wonderful site. From there we can walk to Romaldkirk and the Rose and Crown, which is great. Or if we are feeling energetic, we continue to Middleton. The Crown was closed for a long time, they do need to change their website if they are now open. £30 does seem high for a CL site. Great area for cycling, quiet roads.

Thank you for your comments x We will need to check out Doe Park too. The Rose & Crown is fabulous isn’t it! It is such a shame that they remained closed for so long after the pandemic. It makes it so much harder to re build the business. They were fabulous though, the food was great and I can’t believe I am saying this but I didn’t mind the £30 as it is a lovely little site 💕💕 Rachel, David & Roxy
@Daveindurham Жыл бұрын
Checked their website tonight, no menu available and saying it’s closed. Almost as if they don’t want the business. We met a couple on the rail path when out walking last year who were staying at The Crown, they loved it, so we might have to give it a go. Doe Park is wonderful, a few minutes walk to the railway path that you were on and it’s close to the village pub, The Fox and Hounds, it’s dog friendly.

Looked like some of the driving was filmed from a certain Fiat 500😊Looked like a great stop, I was going to moan about the price but I suppose it's supporting the pub at the moment. There was a really good piece on Radio 2 this week about the struggle for pubs and chippys at the moment but when our local wants £14 for 2 beers that's just too much for a northern lad. Cheers K.

Beep beep 🛺 little & large! Why does every reply to you ends up in a size related comment??!!! 😂😂😂 We were the same …: £30 for a CL but I do have to say the location was amazing, facilities great and 2 pubs in walking distance so we reflected and actually it wasn’t too bad and we would go back! Rachel, David & Roxy 💕

Great vlog, as usual. I note you had your Fiat 500 with you. As I've mentioned previously, we have our CV20 on order and I also have a Fiat 500 ! I was wondering how you decide whether to take the car. For e.g. we would like to stay somewhere in the lake district when we get our van so I plan to follow in my Fiat 500 for easier parking on days out. If we were staying at the CL you were in I'm guessing that we would easily be able to explore and park up in the van ?
@LeisureBit Жыл бұрын
Hi Pat, thanks for the comment. Yes that’s right - it was about 40 minutes from home and Rachel did some stuff en-route on the way so decided to take the car. Generally if we’re going away “away” so more than say 45 mins we wouldn’t take the car unless good reason and would just use the van - even some local sites we’ve not taken the car if we didn’t want to just pop out - you could have taken the van no problem - if we had would have gone a little earlier and headed to the CL later. We wouldn’t normally take it on the longer trips and would then just use the van. Clearly there’s some waste in taking both but sometimes it’s just handy to do it. You can get setup and settled then too and save a little bit of time. In essence if we want to potter and it’s local we might take the car else it’s the van - if I had a large motorhome I would consider towing the car but usually ok with the van (all be it one of the roads we went on had some fallen trees which would have needed more care in the van) - hope that helps - all the best, David & Rachel 👍

Hi, what was that hose fill gizmo you used?
@LeisureBit Жыл бұрын
Ahhhni will let David tell you about the gizmo … too technical for me! 😂
@LeisureBit Жыл бұрын
Hi, it’s something I made as a bit of a prototype to solve the problem of firstly measuring how much water to put in and secondly needing to stand over and watch while it filled so it stops automatically after the required amount has been filled. Saves a lot of time waiting around as you can crack on with other things while it’s filling up - all the best, David 👍

In the day CL sites used to be relatively cheap, basic features for people who did not want the frills of a Bigger site. They are getting hard to find as many are going for the big bucks. Why charge £15 when you can double it if you supply a nice shower/toilet block. This site does look nice though with plenty of room. Thanks for the vblog.
@LeisureBit Жыл бұрын
Daz you are so right they used to be a much cheaper option but nowadays they seem to be able to ask higher prices. Quite a lot of sites stopped tourers post pandemic so the demand for CLs must of been greater hence price hikes. And not forgetting the cost of electricity these days! It was a lovely site and 2 pubs within walking distance was a bonus Thank you for your comments Rachel, David & Roxy 💕
