Campfire Breakfast: Eggs, Grits and Sausage!

A Campfire Breakfast with Eggs, Grits and Sausage is sure to hit the spot! Also, the great outdoors doesn't have to entail a trip to the woods or trek into the mountains. Camp cooking can literally be in your own backyard. For this episode of the Pathfinder Outdoor Kitchen, we are doing just that. I am cooking one of my family's favorite camp cooking breakfast recipes; Eggs, Grits and Sausage! Again, a small, safe campfire in your backyard, or local park is all it takes to enjoy some great camp cooking. I'm in! I use that sausage mostly for breakfast. It also goes excellent w/twice rinsed sauerkraut, carrots, and onion. A fantastic lunch or dinner meal at home or in the field. Breakfast is also my favorite meal of the day. Must try heavy cream w/eggs. Grits, all look awesome. Hungry now. Must go make my breakfast 😋. Take care till next time.

My family has always used the "smoked" sausage version of this Hillshire Farms sausage line. Awesome stuff!! So, i have to agree that these sausages are amazing whether they should be used for breakfast or not! A trick with scrambled eggs that I learned from my mother-in-law is to use some mayo when you mix up the eggs. I also have been known to use half and half, but I am going to have to try the heavy whipping cream.

Another Trick is Low to Medium Heat ! Otherwise the Eggs Burn and collapse! I'll Have to try the Mayo ! Nice Tip

Howdy, " I'm in ". Good episode, I have been following the Outdoor Kitchen from the start. I like it when you change it up a bit. You have a nice setup at your home as well as good vintage gear, I like it. I like the idea of the hardier sausage with egg. I eat it as a taco (flour tortilla, sausage, cooked bell pepper, and white onion; maybe a little pico de gallo salsa as well). It's always good to watch you cook, Matt. 🙂

I’m in . I’m not a breakfast person but I love grits. I use whipping cream or half and half for the better half . Like the skillet. Have a square one I found years ago. Thanks for using something other than breakfast sausage. Try some chorizo in the grits . Have a great evening

Hi,"I'm in!" That's an interesting variation of my staple breakfast three times a week. I will definitely have to try the baked casserole. I just have fried chopped link sausage, fried eggs, cheese, butter and mix into the bowl of yellow grits. I noticed you also used the yellow grits. I really think the yellow are much more flavor ful than the white but "it's all good"! My favorite meal!!!

I'm in! looks good! I live in an apartment so building a fire pit is a big NO NO! but a camp stove on the patio table or firing up the charcoal grill will work as well! Try French toast using the whipping cream! heavenly!
