Another entrancing video. I would watch a Canterbury Kitchen TV show, for sure. Sliced bread---> 10 C's ---> Jim beam cinnamon stick coffee.

That looked awesome Dave, next time just add the dough to the bottom of the camp oven and add the eggs and rest on top. Cook it the way you did with the coals and you'll have a cheesy, hashbrown, sausage, breakfast pie. Oh My, lol

Excellent video.I really like the camp oven. It's the perfect size for 1 or 2 people. 4 if you do soup or stew or something like that. A great way to make butter and buttermilk. Breakfast is the king of meals. You can eat it any time of day.

Another thing you can do dave is make cream biscuits. with those you can add the heavy whipping cream straight into the self rising flour and forgo the mess of cutting in butter. the nice thing about cream biscuits is it's not as difficult to overwork the dough as other recipes and it'll allow you to use up that extra cream you didn't use for the butter

Really love this cooking series Dave Phenomenal!! Recipes and that down home in the country feeling. Want to throw my two cents in on the Dutch oven theory. There was a cooking show on public television back in the early 1990’s featuring a retired Idaho game warden by the name of CW Butch Welch that would cook on everything cast iron and referred to those camp ovens as Dutch Ovens. Don’t want to criticize what you said but Lodge also describes those as a Camp Dutch Oven on there box for sale. Thanks for sharing and all you do for the outdoor community. Greetings from Chicago and ATB Mike
@donalddicorcia2433
@donalddicorcia2433 2 жыл бұрын
Historically, “Dutch” referred to the process for casting the iron. It was perfected in Holland. All large, deep cooking vessels were called Dutch ovens. The variety with legs on it and a rimmed lid to hold coals on top was the “camp” version since it allowed the vessel to sit just above a bed of coals as you would typically find in a camping scenario.

This was very powerful kind of cooking, Dave, says I as I eat my breakfast of Corn Johny cakes and fried green tomatoes with a sprinkle of cheeze while watching your video! I wonder if you packed a half a jar of heavy cream for the trail if the cream would be butter by the time you reached camp? That tripod device I got for Christmas. There were no instructions with it, and the giver didn't know what it was. I looked at it and thought it was for cooking a chicken over the fire by threading the key through the chicken to hang on a tripod, and never imagined it would be used to secure the poles of the tripod too. Why that is awesome! I am ever happy for this gift! Love your cooking! Someone taught you correctly! A meal as you have made would make a fine glamping, camping, and extended stay trail recipe. No joke!
