Camping and Fly Fishing for Trout on a Pristine Blue Mountains River

On this solo trip I spend three days hiking, camping and fly fishing in the Blue Mountains. It's a beautiful location and one of my absolute favourites to visit.
For several reasons it's been a while since I've posted. A combination of not being comfortable on camera, wanting to just enjoy other trips without thinking about filming, and ultimately finding the right trip for a vlog.
I've tried to improve on some of the things I felt could have been better in the first video, so welcome all feedback on how I could make changes in the next!

Living in SA leaves me longing for a trip like this! Sure we have trout and some nice creeks which I'm not going to knock but we lack the large mountain rivers combined with great parks. I think the flip side of that is that no matter where you live you can always be envious of the fishing someone else has. Always happy to answer anyone’s questions about gear. Nice work! Finally decent quality fly fishing video from Australia! I liked how in the first one you gave a little bit of detail about techniques and flys being used. I understand why you might not want to say which river you are on but I like details. Don’t need to know exact location, just name of river. Gives the viewer something to connect with. I like details. Techniques and flys and why. And where are you? Good job though. Really enjoyed the two so far. Obviously a lot of time and effort involved here.
@Joshtreds
@Joshtreds Жыл бұрын
Appreciate the feedback Evan. I think I try to avoid too much detail in my videos because my personal preference in these sort of videos is not to drag them out with too much information. For me that effects the flow, but that’s just my take. I’m also no expert when it comes to tactics and casting so I’ll leave that to others. I’m at a level where I’m comfortable guiding myself. When it comes to locations, I’m a big believer in letting people do the work and to just explore for themselves. Half the fun is finding new places yourself by putting in the effort. Sure people have taken me to places that I didn’t know about, but that’s also part of building friendships with people who have the same passion. Some people won’t like that response, but I don’t think it’s my obligation to name locations, potentially crowding people’s favourite rivers and spots people guide for a living.

Great work Josh. That is one of my favourite spots too. I see the fishing hasn't improved since my last visit in 2018, but the stream sure is a lot higher and cleaner now. Great to see. There were wild dogs and feral pigs all over the place on my first trip there and that was a mixed blessing - that hill is a good test of a man as you know - and by pure good luck, we scored a lift out of there on the back of the rangers' ute after they had cleared their pig traps - WINNING !

Hey Josh just found your channel, you've got some beautiful camera work and editing. Really love what you've done. I've got massive respect for you doing this purely for fun and trying something new filming-wise. It definitely shows in the films as everything feels organic and not forced whatsoever. After seeing this video I really want to upgrade my camera. It's currently a somewhat unique look to have 4K slowmo on KZbin, as those cameras are really up there price-wise. I'm shooting 4K 30fps on a Sony A7iii so slowmo is out of the picture for me, unless I downgrade the footage to fuzzy 1080p.

Hey mate. Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the film - some genuine laughs ("So calm and relaxing..."). Also totally feel you on the episodes front - I'm on Episode 6 I think and never realised how much work they'd be... but I love making them, so, long may it continue. Have a watch if you get a chance. Would love to know what you think: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWWtZap8ipynn6M

Hi Paul, glad you enjoyed it! Funnily enough I did watch one of your videos a little while ago as it came up as suggested content. I remember thinking how much I enjoyed your sense of humour. I’ll have to go through your other videos!

Can’t be lazy bro if you’re doing the logs like this. The hike alone discredits you being lazy
