Gorgeous tent spot by Devil's Hole. Hard to believe you're nearing the end. Seems like yesterday you were entering Big Cypress! Thanks for letting us tag along Kelly! ❤✌️

In Louisiana fountainbleu state park has decent trails that run from north of Slidell to Covington area. Not much rocky terrain but peers and water so lots of wildlife. If your into animals and critters.

2 things...1. I hate that road walk, but if the trail ever moved away from Hillcrest it wouldn't be worth doing. 2. Ever notice that the further someone hikes on the Florida Trail, the more "Southern" their accent? :)

You know Kelly, I would really like the Florida Trail Commission to do something about the dangerous road hiking. If they can't figure out how to KEEP the hiking on real trails, then they should be safety shuddles from the roads back to the real trails. A friend of mine lost his son due to a hit & run from walking along a road. Keep up the good work! I really have enjoyed your vlogs! I want your safety first !

The Nova road walk is already having a study done to see about moving that section into the woods, but there are still a lot of right of way issues to get through. The FTA lists all major road walks as optional; that is, you can skip them or get a ride and they still count you as a thru hiker. Trying to keep the trail in the woods through the Panhandle is probably never going to happen...just not enough continuous forest left. Florida will be lucky to preserve as much of the trail as currently exist...we really need more people to hike here and raise awareness of the FT. Over 3,000 hikers are registered to step off north bound on the AT this year...The FT will be lucky if 100 hikers do it all year.

@S. M. I don't think they really expect anyone to skip all of them...my bet would be that they have those road walks listed as optional to avoid any liability. Came back to edit this to add: The road walks that are shown on the trail maps as optional are those along highways and state roads...not all of the road walks on forest service roads. So I think that means there is only about 100 - 120 miles of road walk that are optional.

All of Florida is snake infested. I'm curious what happens when the cottonmouths butt heads with the pythons. Glad that the swim was uneventful. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

@@elephantprotector The cottonmouths are venomous so, I wonder if the venom works on the pythons. There have been snakes longer than 20' killed in FL. Good Luck, Rick
