I always notice the fire starting. One of the first things I was taught was to not push the striker forward but pull the steel back toward you. This video was very interesting even the 2nd time viewing it. There was the gusty weather, the exotic tarp layout, the deep glowing fire pit of which it was amazing to see you light that, the danger of spears from above in the form of branches breaking off, spilling the brewski, the frozen rain storm and Monte waking at night from the frozen rain. Fun stuFF!

Just a thought, have those potatoes cut ahead of time. Any prep you can do ahead of time will get you to eating faster. Ive not camped in any snow storms... but I love to camp in good weather. Imagining myself fumbling with a sharp knife and freezing fingers. . . It wouldn't end well. Might would even add salt, pepper, all veggies into one bag, meat in another. Boom, boom, cooking. Be safe.

Prepping potatoes is so hard! When I prep my potatoes the night before my roast, I have to put them into water. They will brown if I don't and same goes for my white onions.. I also get freaked out that he will cut himself, but I'm sure he has his ways.

I had my adventures in a snowstorm like this, I know exactly the feeling, I just didn't have a dog with me, just my cousin and a friend, in the Romanian mountains.
