Yes, there is evidence of people in the vicinity of the park dating back to 11,000 to 12,000 years ago. These early settlers hunted mammoths with stonecrafted weapons. It's remarkable.

Except early settlers hated the mountains bc they blocked their way and were bad for farming.

You also have to remember, it hasn't always looked as we see it today. There was certainly a difference compared to even just 100-150 years ago. I'm fairly certain that while most settlers from the American expansion into the west regarded the mountains as both a blessing and a curse, ancient humans who passed through and settled into the area were truly in awe of the surrounding scenery. Particularly if the had come from a less mountainous area like the Midwest plaines or the eastern coast. And it would most likely have been an even more majestic place with a far more diverse and even more dangerous wildlife. Either way it would certainly have been a more interesting and majestic place, the farther back into history you go. I currently live near Denver, I can see the mountains every morning and still imagine ancient life between the plaines and the mountains. A diversity that would make modern day look sparse of different species.

As they say, "Everyon's a crtic!" It reminded me of the closing credits of a show aired on a TV station in my past. It was "Skippy, The Bush Kangaroo". At the end of ther closing credits of one episode, Skippy did on-camera ...! On a home TV set, it was likely unnoticed by the viewers. But, to sharp-eyed engineers watching on a $5,000.00 Conrac monitor, it was plainly visible! LOL!

Not a bullwinkle, as the moose in question was a cow. :) Not sure if that makes her cowinkle or not. (Only bull moose have antlers) Bulls wouldn't have dropped their antlers quite yet.

Catherine, that was worth rising up to watch. I made a mistake by turning on the video before making a cup of coffee. The video was so engrossing I couldn't turn it off. Colorado has to provide some of the most epic scenery in the world. I served 16 of 23 years overseas and marveled at gorgeous places in many countries around the globe. However, Colorado proudly holds its own. I know a camera cannot do full justice as smell, vision, feel of the wind on your skin add so much to the experience but you have done a magnificent job with your skills. We are all appreciative of your work.

Another 'Out-Of-The-Park' video presentation! Spectacular views, calming music, and even a moose-butt to "end" the episode. When KZbin invents an award (maybe a 'Toobie") you have to receive several for your videography! So much to take in and appreciate. Thank you very much! I swear I could even smell the aroma of the foil dinners sitting at my laptop. Now that is a talent - and you absolutely have that! Safe travels.

In 2017 a brother and I did the same drive. It was early June. There had been lots of recent snow around Memorial Day. So we had melting snow, the rivers flowing high from abundant snowmelt, wildflowers, very green, lots of wildlife along the way. Just a spectacular drive. Thank you for reminding me how nice it is. As usual great production values.

just amazing. i have been through the I 10 states from Florida to California, many times. I really need to get to I 80 i think, and the states north. The scenes of Colorado, with the mountains, valley's, just shows how tiny the human form is compared to the expanse and grandeur of this world. i don't believe any other country on earth can really compare to the beauty and diversity of America. thank you for another beautiful journey into the wild. i love all animals more than people. that was just enough wildlife to make the heart and soul long for openness and freedom from civilization. until next week, God Bless, and stay safe.

I make a similar dish when camping. I do buy the cheap foil pans for rigidity. I slice up 1 summer squash, 1 zucchini, baby carrots, red onion, half a stick of butter, pink Himalayan sea salt, pepper or Adobo works too. Place it all in pan and wrap with tinfoil. Poke a little vent in top after about 30 minutes to check if done. Yummy!!

Catherine and cappuccino... With a bright and sunny video on an otherwise cloudy, rainy, and gloomy Sunday morning. (The 22-year-old foster daughter of a couple at church died unexpectedly this past Thursday of a pulmonary embolism.) Cat, is's a miracle that the AMA and the FDA haven't gotten after you about videos like this one! Very powerful anti-dpressant and definitely a mood brightener! Very peaceful and calming, as well. Usual excellence in videography, editing, and overall production. It's a pity you didn't choose TV broadcasting as a career. You could've won a mantel full of technical and creative Emmys. Perhaps that early morning thunderstorm really made the widlife more active and the colors sharper. I hope you get to go further north into the Rockies. Even more spectavular, IMHO. I enjoy exploring that part of the country. Got to watch this one "fresh" as I'm seving as Scripture Reader at the 11 AM worship. Praying that Almighty God continues to Bless, Guard, Protect, and Guide you on more great adventures!

Catherine... Good morning sweetheart. And good morning to Martina as well. Thank you Cat. Seeing RMNP through your eyes is nearly as good as being there myself. I'm so glad that you've stayed in Colorado for as long as you have. I love that state. It's so beautiful. Almost as pretty as my Iowa. 😁 That was a lot of food for the two of you. Looked really good. I do similar foil meals over the campfire quite often. That's what I did just last night here at my acreage. It's been a working weekend for me out here this weekend. I'm planting some new trees and shrubs. I have fifty Quaking Aspens and two hundred lilacs to get in the ground. Five varieties of lilacs. Fourty of each. Hopefully in a couple of years my little valley will smell oh so sweet in the spring. I know that your videos run a few weeks behind. Are you still in the mountains somewhere?? Have you had any early season snow yet?? It's just beginning to transition to autumn here in Iowa. The trees are just starting to show some color. This is my favorite time of year. The farmers markets are full of all the things I like to eat. Have you thought about your plans for over the winter yet?? Perhaps you can try another southern road trip this year. Although it might be nice to see you playing in the snow at Big Bear again. It's been a while since you've done that. Time to get to work now. We're supposed to get some rain here tonight and tomorrow. I need to get the rest of my planting finished before then. Have a great week babe. Be safe when you're traveling. Love you. Randy. 👍❤✌

Hi Randy. As hard as it was to leave, I am no longer in Colorado. Funny you should ask if I would head east. I just took a week long vacation to visit family in Williamsburg, VA. I flew with my mom, but didn’t film content for the channel. Just took a vacation. :) I’m not currently in the mountains, but will be headed there in a couple days. Sounds like you’ve got some great projects happening on your property. Happy Sunday!

Coffee time Sunday with my favorite nomad videographer. Hey......just a suggestion, but there is one beautiful National Forest north of the Park called Medicine Bow. Particularly the section in Wyoming. The Snowy Range and Thunderbason are gorgeous, accessible by vehicle with awesome trails.

Your in my old stomping grounds.. I've told you I used to live in Estes Park about 25 years ago for about five years.. best time of my life.. living there you get to see the wildlife up close and personal.. elk would come through our yard all the time and hang out for a few days.. in the town of Estes Park around the lake the elk hangout there a lot especially during mating season.. it used to be you'd have to be careful driving cuz they were all over the roads.. right above the lake on top of the mountain there is a perfect image of a rock figure of a Indian lying down on its back.. you can see its feet sticking up and it travels down over its legs and then it looks like folded hands across its belly that leads up to the face and it's a perfect Indian face.. not far below it is another perfect rock formation called the Twin Owls and it really looks like two owls side-by-side.. did you get to see that? I used to see the elk playing in the river near there.. the townspeople were so friendly.. it was such a magical place.. my friend was a musician and used to play around the area there.. it was such a fun time.. I love Colorado it's one of the most beautiful places.. I'm glad you got to see and enjoy it💖💖💖

Love the capture of wildlife-Steller’s Jay and moose! I’m happy to start my Sunday of a long weekend with this relaxing video. Off to a park myself today to bike the trails through the forest and mountains. Safe journeys, Cat! Thanks for sharing.🙋🏻‍♀️

Hi Catherine, Wow, where did summer go?. A friend on (Trail Crew) up in Mammoth once told me "trees are one of the greatest resources" because they grow back; evidenced in all the compacted young trees growing healthy in this weeks adventure. So wonderful to see. And the closing scene was a real grabber. So happy to see you out there. Happy Trails.
