A trip is where you have fun, and enjoy, not a competition. The only thing that matters are you having fun and come back home safely, nothing else matter. And still somebody haven't understand this, they just go camp to "boast" (not share the memory and experience) about how amazing their trip are, how skilled they are. I don't see "fun" or "enjoy" in any of that.

Great video Paul! Personally, I couldn't car less about the advertising. The odd, 1 minute clip talking about square-space doesn't detract from the fantastic videos. You also mention a lot of brands, but I know you do this to recommend brands you think are solid. I have personally picked up a couple of items from Decathlon (Trail Runners and Down Jacket) and they are solid bits of kit, so I thank you for the recommendations. It would be amazing if you could go full time; we'd get a lot more content which is always a win. At the end of the day, this is a job like any other and you deserve to be compensated for you consistent high quality videos. While I was a hiker long before I found your channel, you have inspired me a lot and have been an important part of my journey as a backpacker! You're doing good work also getting more people to the hobby and promoting the right attitude to the outdoors, especially with the Leave No Trace principles. Sorry for the ramble; you are among my favourite channels period and I think its sad to see some of the negativity you've been getting. Keep doing what you're doing!

Just thought I'd chime in, I've never camped before but I've always had kind of a notion for it. I'm a photographer and first encountered your channel through your collab with James Popsys. That video, along with the others on your channel, convinced me that I need to get off my arse and start enjoying the outdoors. 2020 is hell. Being stuck in one place for so many months has been terrible for my mental health, and now that lockdown's over I'm acutely aware of how every free day I spend in my bedroom is a day wasted. I live in Scotland - a beautiful country and one where I'm blessed with the complete legal freedom to roam wherever I want. It's time to start making the most of that privilege. Yesterday I went to GO Outdoors and bought a bunch of stuff. Tomorrow I'm heading up to Glen Nevis and spending the weekend. Thank you.

There's a "select few" KZbinrs who've convinced me to get off my arse & again stick a pack on for more than a day hike. You're one of them, tbh. First trip is 2 nights next week, Settle to Ribblehead (very short days I know, but I have put a *lot* of timber on in the 25 years since I last did this kind of thing). Nervous, but I honestly can't wait.

There's a load of shite on KZbin and the difference is the presenter and you are one of the best. You've Vlogged and reviewed most things now as an amateur and the next step is to take it full time as you suggest. Of course it shall therefore become commercial, a job. But keep it honest and we'll keep watching. In terms of therapy, why not get in touch with the various mental health intiatives as I'm sure this kind of thing would help immensely.

Paul - good for you wanting to make this a career change. Sponsored videos are a way of doing it. What many of us forget is that content takes time, materials, etc to make. None of that's free. Therefore the choice is either to pay for the content (streaming services) or to watch adverts. Keep it up - these have helped convince me to think about overnight bikepacking trips, rather than just my big adventures!

You've encouraged me to get back doing what I used to do when I was a kid, and I'm grateful for that. If it wasn't for your videos the last few weeks re-exploring the places I used to go around the peak District and exploring new places out there, wouldn't have happened.... Massive thank you

I love your videos. I do a lot of hunts where I have to pack camp in. I come to you for knowledge and ideas you don’t normally get on the hunting side of things. You are easy to watch. I find myself watching videos just to watch. Thanks for what you do.

Just want to thank you Paul for these videos i used to love camping but fell out of doing it when i started college and didn't have the time to go camping but from watching your videos has mad me reconsider the way that i think about camping. I now see that i am able to go out for a couple of days and just enjoy the beautiful country that i have got just down the road from me and now i am back out camping and i am having more fun then ever because i am going out with my mates and just enjoying my self thank you so much for all these wonderful videos

I was in the army for a few years so I've slept under a basha in woodblocks, but never stopped out in the hills on my own till a few months ago, so I started watching Paul's videos, such a massive help and insight to whats to pack and also expect. Now I've stopped in the peaks almost every weekend since! I agree with Paul a night in the hills just takes the stresses away. P.S paul, if I see you in a bar, I've got a pint for you!

You have inspired me Paul, looking forward to camping once autumn hits and the midges have gone. You seem a lot more comfortable in front of the camera now and it really shows in these videos. Thanks for doing what you love so we can enjoy watching these videos from the comfort of our homes with a coffee in our hands.

Well done Paul. Keep going mate, you are doing the right thing. Loving the t-shirts, just waiting for my Does it get any better than this t-shirt to arrive. I've always enjoyed your content since discovering you and always end up gravitating back to your channel. You have inspired me to get out again over the years and I'm one of those 60 year old's! I had a bad hit and run accident ten years ago, left for dead at the side of the road and seeing people like you on KZbin inspired me to get back out and enjoy life. Thank you, and others, for making me realise there is more to life than the drudge we normally encounter. Lovin' your work!

I've recently invested in some decent camping gear, and videos like this are the reason why. Getting out in nature is good for the soul, and it is certainly cheaper than therapy! Having dealt with mental health issues and addiction, I know first hand that camping is the answer. Big respect Paul, and I do hope that you can make this your full time job : )

I am looking to get used to being outdoors as like you said the 9-5 job can get to you. i also think its humbling to take away those 4 protective walls, the heating, the convenience of being close to a shower, bathroom and kettle etc. The fresh air and silence is just a small benefit of being outside and really feeling like you are in nature, that you are part of it. What a beautiful spot that is but I do love my bigger 4 man tents. I am the only person that is interested in sleeping in tents for the above reasons. But I cant help it, I feel I need to do this to keep myself in check and appreciate all the comforts I have. Great vid too btw.

Lesson number 2.. Don't forget HP sauce, it makes everything tasty! Don't worry about going a little more commercial. I expect a few small adverts and product placements, so it's not a problem with me. And good luck changing careers I hope you can make a go of it and still produce interesting videos.

Another brilliant video, this is by far the best wild camping/outdoors channel on KZbin. Don’t mind the sponsorship, love the gear reviews and would like to know more about your recommendations. Just back from our first wild camp above Buttermere and got plenty of tips from you before hand. Really got the bug now so I’ll be watching the rest of your reviews for a few new additions, new sleeping bag and mat is next on the list!

Hi Paul, really appreciated the video, the message, the time and the effort. Just started hiking at the age of 44 and this video has now peaked my interest in camping. I here you regarding the office job 9-5 and take my hat off to you for taking the steps to make a change, as the first few steps are always the most challenging. I found this video relatable, honest and inspiring, keep up the good work 👍

Good on you Paul, I'm a 100% behind you and your thoughts / sentiments. I wish you all the best on the journey with your channel. We live in such a beautiful country and walking through it and experiencing nature at its best is free, thats wonderful in itself. Your channel helps to promote this, but in a totally responsible way, with respect for nature, the environment and landowners always at its heart. Maybe see you on the hills someday ;)
