Not even three minutes in and you already showed me a good way to keep food cool. I live in the high desert, so the lack of streams made me close to giving up on bringing fresh foods for trips. 10/10

Your rock fire ring reminds me of camping in various locales. I’m from central, lower Michigan, and in the Great Lakes areas, rocks are every where. Same in the Sierras, and on the Brazos River in Texas. But on the Suwannee River in Florida, and anywhere in Louisiana - no such deal. Rocks are buried under silt deposits, many feet down there somewhere! Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

Congrats on the marriage, man! Nice of your best man to give you that awesome knife! That'll definitely last a while and even be something to possibly pass down. This looked like nice camping trip after a little hiatus. Those meals you cooked looked absolutely amazing! Also, thanks for the tip about taking a break after the burn in. I've only had one successful bow drill fire, but I definitely need to get back out there to practice.

Good video little bro. I've been doing the exact same thing since the 60's. Camping, carving, cooking and lots of improvising. By the time you're my age, you'll probably have a lot of great memories. P.S. I don't know if you are a dog person but there is a wonderful pup somewhere that would LOVE to be your companion and help to keep you warm and happy. And it would be eternally grateful for the good home. Thanks, Jim

I’ve actually heard of keeping food cool in the stream but it has been a debated topic for me from a specific experience in the past. Is it only viable for places with cooler northern climate? The first time I went camping with a couple of high-school acquaintances many years ago I had a person in the group who insisted on bringing & keeping frozen meat in a waterproof bag tied off to a pier (We didn’t have an icebox and we camped on a beach) and I argued since we live in sub-tropic climate and it was summer the water is going to be ~20C/~50F max which isn’t enough to keep meat fresh so we should have brought other less-perishable food. The next morning a friend and I thought the meat has gone bad (it tasted sour) but said person insisted it was still good and the group split in two where mine left early since we ran out of food. We ended up not contacting each other after this and I have always wanted some insights on this. Love your videos.
