Why I started Watching these videos was because of the fellow who died as a result of being caught in a massive snow storm. He was well-known as a hiker in back country as well.As someone who trained people in how to do long term hiking in mountainous regions. Yes somehow he did not seem to have the skills for survival especially in hardship situations. So I wondered why someone like him. Who'd been at this for years? Had actually decades did not have the necessary skills to survive in massive. Cold and snow, yet you had a hike in mountainous regions. This was in some place Northeastern United States. The/winner and it just seemed to me that. Something was missing. So I watch these films with interest as to what might be minimal and even a little more than minimal preparation to to have somebody carry necessary. The most essential pieces of equipment that would have permitted this fellow to survive his circumstances.. It was a sad situation for his family to realize that he had passed away doing something that he seemingly loved to do and was fully capable of teaching other people how to do and enjoy being out in nature. It is highly unlikely that I will ever be in his position or attempt to do survival hiking in such conditions. However, I do have to say. I hope this is something that people like yourself will take on the task of training people. In how to do this search methods for finding just basic resources and how to prepare oneself for eventualities Best wishes for a fine year

Just a question. And if you answer, you would actually be the first to answer out of dozens of "bush crafters" that I have asked. I'm no hero. Retired from the National Guard, and many of those yrs were full time. I was never deployed. I'm no bush crafter and the military prepared me in no way for survival. I do, however, know the time we are in and the future looks dismal at best. I do understand the potential need to bug out with an inch bag. So, the question is this. If you were hastily bugging out, with all you could carry, prepared for 4 seasons but it is summer so you are not wearing your winter attire, what would be your load out? Seems to be a tough question, or I'm just not worth their time to answer. Would appreciate a response. You seem to be the most minimal and natural on YT. Kudos bro.

The only thing I would add to your pack is sugar. It's great for quick energy, doesn't go bad and is a great morale booster.

Mors Kochanski would be proud... of both your ability to thrive in winter wilderness conditions, and by the items you chose. Well done, Ryley. You made a really nice camp. Thanks for taking us along.

Hey man really enjoy the simple trips like yours. It’s so funny as I am much older than you but you bring me back to a time in life that my little brother pretty much stayed in the woods and made tents out of palmettos lean to and what not. We didn’t know we were Busch crafting then but it was so simple just as you are doing. Please continue these type of trips and as always safe travels man
