The Kern River in California is such a beautiful place. Camping and exploring in this area, there were no crowds. I also went on a mission looking for Bears!! Did I find one?

I finally got a bear on MY camera. Come to Colorado or Northern Arizona every summer and bear are such beautiful, majestic creatures. My dog and I were outside the van, I was brushing my teeth, my dog taking his morning poop, then he starts barking. I just figured it was a deer, but it was a bear. He was close. Very close. By the time I got my dog in the van and got my camera, he had crossed the road to the trail. Now I can die happy. Enjoy your quiet time. I, like you, need my alone time. Colorado is my favorite state but thank you for this video. I have been there before but will definitely head that way again soon. Hugz and love to you and Little One❤️ Be true to yourself ALWAYS

The Kern River is beautiful for sure. But be extremely careful in and around the water. As a teenager I knew an older lady who lost her first husband on a camping/fishing trip - they never found his body. Then as I got older I had a friend who was camping next to one of those waterfalls, and he went into the water to cool down and wipe off the grime after a hot day. He slipped, and slid down the falls, hitting his right elbow on a rock. He managed to make his way back to camp where they bandaged him up to enough to stop the bleeding, but his teenage niece had to drive him down to the hospital in Bakersfield. His elbow never healed right…

Oh Sarah this is definitely one of my favorite places you've gone to for your nature therapy!! If this beautiful serene place with it's flowing river and waterfalls doesn't cure and fix the soul.... nothing will. 🥴 My gosh it's a beautiful spectacular place! If I camped there, it would be for several days for sure. I hope that while you were there that you soaked up enough nature to get you through the rough times ahead with your friend? I'm glad you took some time for yourself because you too need to take care of yourself. May you continue to stay strong 💪 for your friend and help him through his issues. God bless you 🙏 for being such a good friend to those who may need your support and help. A million thanks for sharing this video of which has now become one of my favorite places you've gone to!! All the best to you always, and that includes "Lil One." Happy trails Sarah! 👍😎💕

Your time away has done you good; you look much more rested and at peace in today's video. Regarding putting nature and your well being first, I get it. And when it comes to family / close friends, we have to decide for ourselves where our boundaries lie. Nobody else can do that for us, and most people just won't get involved which can leave us feeling like we're the only one who can do things for them. There are professionals for that role, but there's no guarantee with that either. And some of us are more likely to want to be there for them. It's a very tough decision and deciding to be there leads to more tough decisions throughout that time. Make sure you get time to yourself daily to enjoy nature, meditate, walk on that gorgeous beach, whatever you can do to help yourself as well. Caregiving can be devastating to your psyche and you have the tools to help yourself; make sure you remember to use them. ❣ The Kern River looks amazing! Regarding that salmon idea...uh, no. I've seen pictures of vehicles that bears tore into because they could smell the food inside and it wasn't pretty. You definitely don't want to do that to your Jeep. I hope you hugged those trees! It does both of you a world of good. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us, as always. P. S. Completely off topic but have you ever thought about wrapping / painting everything on your roof white? White reflects light and black absorbs it. The temperature difference in your Jeep would be significant and it would make it far more comfortable for both you and Lil' One. I painted the full-size van I had (hunter green) white and the difference was amazing. Professional paint jobs are expensive but you can DIY it, especially the roof, if need be. They make spray paint for plastic as well, so you could do that to your storage boxes instead. Food for thought.

Lived in California all my life till recently(67), never been to the Kern River. Heard all my friends talk all about it though. But I will get there one day now that I'm retired. And I also like to see that section of Ancient Giant Sequoias, or is it Redwoods, that you have to hike to, to see them. You looked so relieved, sitting in your element. You need to get out more.😊 Safe Travels.

Don't know if you've tried fly fishing, but the Kern River is an excellent river for trout. You would need to have someone show you the basics, but the great benefit while fishing is you need to concentrate and it can take your mind away from everything else. Golf is like that - you totally concentrate when hitting a shot. Same thing with downhill skiing - you focus your mind in full on the next turn, then the next turn.

It's an awesome river and place. You go from desert to mountains and tall pine trees. It's such a dangerous river. Last year after the record snow falls, I was driving along the river and there was a red kayak wrapped around a tree. A sheriff was parked on the side of the road and that section had orange cones along the side to prevent parking. A week later I read in the news that a body had been recovered from that red kayak. It was there 43 days. It took that long for the water level to go down so that the body/kayak could be safely recovered. Enjoy those majestic mountains.

Speaking of bears I've been up and down looking for bears to see then when I worked at mtn high ski resort of all places in wrightwood California I was driving my old soft top 4 cylinder white wrangler jeep one day near dusk when I spotted the biggest black bear ever. He was literally the size of the dumpster in the resort parking lot. I was alone and it was spooky and silent he gave me a look and a sniff in the air and then slowly ambled away back towards the ski lift.
