Trip Alarms Co. wanted us to demonstrate their new "gen 3" Quad trip alarms. We thought it would be fun to make some really heavy loads using unusual stuff too. For science. Remember these are not toys and one should use extreme caution when using these.
I can not post a direct link but you know how to find these with 5 seconds of determination.

instead of flour or cornstarch, ya should have used dried coffee creamer. I do not know what makes it flammable but the stuff i was sprinkling over an open flame was most impressive. I like the Cayenne pepper idea. Keep up the entertaining content, thanks

I believe this only works as a very fine and dispersed dust (if you throw a handful of coffeecreamer in a flame, only the fine particles catch fire) so I think this wouldn’t work too well as a compact bomb. But would’ve loved to see them try these yeah!

When I was a teen would often grab extra creamer packets from gass stations or restaurants. Opening a few in my hand gently throwing in air and lighting with a lighter was always cool. If done right produces nice fire ball.

I just put some similar ones in my orchard to keep deer out. I replaced the shot on a standard 12 gauge with chili powder, sealed the cut cap with silicone, and then slipped the whole thing into six inches of 3/4" pvc pipe to make the chili directional. It is aimed at where the deer most often jump the fence. We await developments...

I’ve been told, during the depression when money was tight, the old timers would load their shot shells with part black powder & part flour,corn starch, or corn meal. You showed that cornstarch burns. I’d like to see you try shots shells or slug loads loaded with corn starch mixed with powder.
@Numl0k
@Numl0k 3 ай бұрын
I'd be interested in seeing a source and reasoning behind that. Cornstarch *is* flammable, but only when the fuel/air mixture are correct. It has to be dispersed for that to happen. You see this in action with the blue powder. There was a delay before the whole load went up in flames, because that was the point when it was properly dispersed. If it were loaded in a shot shell mixed in with blackpowder, it would NOT burn in any meaningfully energetic way. The only reasoning I can think of that makes any sense is using it as a filler to increase the volume of the load to fill up space in the shell, but that would probably screw up the burn rate of the powder. Maybe it would work if they layered it so the cornstarch wasn't mingling with the powder.
@Earthshipowner
@Earthshipowner 3 ай бұрын
The cornstarch/meal was to take up volume in the case... when loading reduced powder charges the danger with black powder, or a quick burning powder is keeping the least amount of air in the case.. it will cause the shotgun to omnidirectional...

Glitter is the bane of custodians as well. It sticks into every joint and crack in a floor and gets hung up in the fibers of carpets. That makes it almost impossible to get swept up or vacuumed up. I cleaned up a theater for years and they would have children's dance classes come in and display what they learned to their parents and the general public. And they loved glitter and sequins. And the hallway behind the theater was carpeted. The carpet was vacuumed at least 5, or more, times each week. About the time the vacuum finally got most of the glitter out of the carpet in the 4 months between classes, they would do it all over again.

Lycopodium powder was the stuff for making flash bangs in high school. It is naturally oily which provides the fuel. That is a weapon used in war and highly illegal…AND…if you trip your own alarm…could cripple you for life or worse. An empty shell with primer and a bit of explosives grade aluminum/magnesium for flash and brilliance, or corn starch or bakery wheat …would be more than adequate to frighten most people without endangering anyone.

Completely different subject, but concerning current events, namely the farmers protesting in The Netherlands: it would be interesting to see the effects of various LE rounds on loaded tractor tires (“loaded” tires are filled with liquid rather than air, to provide added traction and counterbalance when using tractor attachments). Maybe some farmers out there who have tractor tires that are due for replacement can loan a tire on a rim or two for testing before new ones are installed? Or if there is an old relic in someone’s tree line that could be a donor? Just spitballing a test idea. Love the channel!

I used to rig booby traps like this with hand grenades with just the fuse and no powder in field training exercises. All it had to do is make noise and not kill anyone. You tie the string to the grenade pin.

Powdered coffee creamer should make a decent fireball. Also you can dry lactose that can be purchased from companies selling firework chemicals.

This device needs one more safety 'pin' to secure the plate after insertion. The pin can then be removed remotely by a separate string. Imagine setting one of these up in the dark...dangerous as hell, without that additional pin holding the plate till you're ready to 'arm' the mechanism.
