@Homeless Forstr I personally have never managed to catch one only seen them in photographs. up here in Northern California on Western Sierras they're a little bit more difficult to get to. only fish im missing left on the California Heritage trout challenge and a Loathion cutthroat

@Homeless Forstr Me and my brother used to catch Golden trout up to 2 lbs in lakes that were 3 or 4 days hike. That was almost 20 yrs ago. I wonder if they are still there.
@turkey20032 жыл бұрын
@Homeless Forstr also we would find that Goldens would "dissappear" in some lakes and then a a few years later there would be big 2lbs there in abundance. So maybe your lakes still have them, just in low levels for the time being. Their numbers seem to fluctuate wildly.

This fish you were wondering about at the mountain lake, in Poland is considered a different species than salmon or trout. It's called "Pstrąg", but when you try to translate it, it just gets called 'trout' so there is no distinction. But its definitely different species, but quite closely related to trout.

The higher you go, the waters typically have much less insect life so the trout are usually stunted. Often they’ll have larger heads and mouths and dwarf bodies. They just don’t have the food abundance that exists in the lower elevations. Gorgeous fish but you’ll rarely ever find anything large.
