As the weather in South Texas is getting nicer, I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to take my dog, Bronson, out for a camping trip. To celebrate his eighth birthday, I found a private campsite on hipcamp where Bronson can run around off leash and explore. I also cooked his favorite meal which happens to be my favorite meal as well.
In this video, we spend some quality time in nature along the Llano River in San Marcos, TX. After setting up camp, we took some time to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. The frogs put on a performance the entire time we were here, and at night, the coyotes, crickets and cicadas joined in the concert.
We also took the opportunity to kayak down the Llano river. Although, the river was quite low, we still took a casual cruise down stream and enjoyed being on the water.
For dinner, I grilled us each a New York strip steak over the campfire. Bronson enjoyed his birthday dinner and even had some of mine.
After a full day of setting up camp, exploring, hiking, kayaking and cooking over the open flame, Bronson and I went to sleep comfortably in my napier Backroadz Truck bed Tent. This was my first time sleeping in the tent with my dog and we both slept really cozy and were serenaded by the forest creatures that night.
The next morning, I awoke to the most amazing sunrise in recent memory. A dense morning fog was rolling over the Llano River just as the sun was peeking over the horizon. I made some morning camp coffee, sat by the river with my pup, and reflected on another awesome camping trip.
