I wanna leave an honest comment so here goes, This video is genuine and the reason why I say that is because this fella leaves the mistakes and issues within the video, he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer nor does he claim to be but that definitely adds to his character and this is why I say he's absolutely awesome. I give it a 10/10 💪😎

Sam the reason the little camping stove is erupting like that is tipping it sideways allows liquid propane to enter the burner.

I use a Coleman backpack stove that is very similar to your stove. You have to get the stove in a stable upright position ,, then light it and don't tilt or move it while it's lit. I've even used mine in a hotel room. Although it's probably not a good idea. lol.

I am glad you showed that stove "flare up" at 14:49 in this video. I have used that style of stove for probably at least 20 years and never saw that, but I also haven't ever tipped it sideways. Recently, though, I saw someone in another YT video tip one sideways while lit to help start a wood fire (can't remember what channel). Anyway, I have a couple upcoming videos where I copied that technique to start my fire in a hot tent stove and I will definitely be referring them to this video to see why that is probably not a good idea. Maybe not a huge risk, but could get out of control if someone gets startled by a flare up and drops the lit stove inside a tent or building. I won't be doing that anymore. Thank you for sharing that incident!!!

I got waterproof socks for riding in the rain and hiking, so a good pair of trail runners can be worn for both. Wear a pair of merino socks under the waterproof ones and you will be warm, dry, and comfortable in trail runners. Always start with a flat spot you will use to cook on your stove. Leave in on the flat spot to light and adjust. You will like how it cooks and you can use them during no fire periods. Everyone that I have known, has lost a meal or two until they found to make sure you have a safe and solid spot for your stove and full pot.

Longer videos works for me ! , 40 plus minutes, rain and or snow makes it better, try 2 videos a week, a short video (10-15 minutes) for short day hikes, maybe show case a new product, then a long video (overnight w/bad weather) why not the best of both worlds 😃 can’t wait for the next video 🎉

Just found your channel and I’m really enjoying the content! The mix of good vibes, chill cooking, camping, food, and some bushcraft is perfect. Love the gear stuff too, though I wish it was from Aliexpress instead of Temu. Plus, the longer videos are FOR SURE better, 40-60 minutes is the sweet spot. The shorter the video, the less I watch it, haha. You need time to get hooked to the story, the scenery, and really feel like we’re there with you, you know? When it’s short, you can’t enjoy it as much, and the cuts between sections feel too big if you know what I mean. Keep up the great work!

Tipping to the side may have contributed to the stove doing that but the main reason is most likely the temperature of the canister. I just had the same thing happen with a stove I trust from Soto as well when temps were around 20 deg F. I believe that the temperature causes the gas combination that's in butane canisters to be more of a liquid form vs gaseous. It'll help a lot to just warm a canister inside your jacket for a few minutes prior to use in winter temps.

Amazing what a thing it is to hike in there with everything you will need in a pack on your back. In some ways, it is the ultimate way to camp. It is so different from car camping that the two just don't belong on the same page. Cuz you can bring the kitchen SINK when you drive it all in with a car or truck. But when ya hike in, you gotta make sacrifices. Not only in weight, but in space as well. For years, I camped without a chair. But I quickly discovered that I WANT that chair, and I started bringing it in. Once you get used TO the camping chair? You will never leave home without it.

I like when you give us between 45 minutes to an hour. Those are perfect for me.

I'll add my 2 cents. but because everybody is different & has differing amounts of time to spend and number of videos to fit into that time (or attention span) take it as you will. I used to watch all sorts of different types of videos, and the Majority were under 1/2hr some of them tried longer videos and I couldn't stay tuned for that long. Now let's consider me personally... I have an Adventure Motorcycle, I have been getting into the offroad riding, and camping (hence why I'm here seeing what camping gear is worth getting from Temu) But the Adventure riding is something that needs to be learned to be enjoyed, the better you are at riding the more fun it is. and the best on the planet lives a couple of hours away from me. That is Chris Birch. very highly respected right around the globe, and a nice guy to boot. but his Latest video of an Adventure bike Rally that was 1/2 a day ride away... I started to watch it, I was enjoying it. and then I looked at ow long it was (1hr 17 mins) and instantly clicked onto something else because I can't watch anything for that long! To be honest, the only way I get through a video 44minutes long, is to skip bits... mostly talking, and things that go off my current interest point. an example of that is when Yammie Noob is talking about different bikes and moves onto American or European Bikes... I skip to the next segment straight away! up to 25 minutes is easy to watch. 30mins is starting to drag on, 35 mins I'll probably leave the video running while I go make a coffee. and from there the interest wains more and more.

41:05. You pronounced that pretty well. Okayu お粥 is softened rice porridge, and is a Japanese comfort food. Salmon and miso okayu sounds delicious!

Hey Sam, thanks for another cool video! Honestly, my sweet spot for videos is around 30-35 minutes. Any more than that and I tend to to use the 10 second skip a lot! I also prefer to see more of what you do around camp, than the actual walk in. Not being critical, just my two cents! Keep up the good work!

You were right about tilting the can of fuel. I own the same chair from Temu & it's brilliant, same as the saw, I have a bahco saw too & they are equal except the bahco folds up. I wouldn't trust that water filter though. I have a sawyer mini that cuts 99.9999% of the nasties & been using it for 15yrs now. I have one on my rain water tank & they are brilliant. They took the life straw & made it better & 1 will last you your entire life.

I like the variety of different lengths of videos. Just depends on what you’re trying to show us. Bottom line it’s all good 👍
