Actually, I do not think the clocking would result in single digit pressure. Worn bearings would certainly cause lower pressure, but new bearings and good tolerance should still hold pressure. The clocking is mostly for better/longer oiling of the cam shaft. Are you working on a 5.7 or 6.4? Is this a complete build, all new bearings? Did the cam thrust plate bolts get torqued with thread locker? Did you upgrade the oil pump to Melling HV or Hellcat pump? Did you put a new o-ring on the oil pick-up tube? Side note: Hasting and Clevite are both quality bearings. I used Dura-bond in my HEMI.

How damage can bearing be before you have to replace it ?

The short answer is not very much. Any loss of bearing surface opens the tolerance and reduces oil circulation. The long answer, Visually if you see differences in colors multiple scratches and/or grooves or any miss-shaping then they should be changed. If you can catch anything with your fingernail they should be changed. Especially important if there is scratches and grooves the bigger issue of the trash circulating in the oil must be cleaned.

Gatta figure out what bearing my customer bought because I believe they were Hastings or clevites but I think Hastings anyway the machine shop guy alignmned the bearing holes with the oil galley hole and I was reading like 9 psi at idle …. Do you think this could be the issue I think so ….. thoughts ?!

Great video . Bottom line do not use the aftermarket grooved bearings unless you clock them in between 1 and 330. The measured spacing on both sides was nice

Thank you for visiting Eric. I am very happy with the way the clocking has turned out. I have great oil pressure and my trucks are running great. We look forward to seeing you back at Hillbilly Garage.

@mikethomas1245 thank you for sharing. It's exciting for me to know I've been able to help someone. What exactly are you working on? How deep of a build is it?

@@Hillbillygarage1215 I'm working on the same engine you have 5.7 Hemi. When i bought the truck it has a little over 200,000 miles on it. don't know when the last oil change was. So I changed the oil and and drove it about 100 miles and spun a cam bearing and seized up and snapped the timing chain gear bolt that holds it to the camshaft. So I'm doing a full rebuild.

kzbin.info/aero/PLVs8K55GyL-r5BRkWAxB5J1L0SxFhTlab&si=SwNYbwylcumYDRZj There are a few tips in this video link that might be helpful on your HEMI project. Be sure you pull all the oil galley plugs out and flush the entire oiling system
