I'm a 48 year old male. I had cervical disc replacement in 2 levels in 2007. I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease as well as spinal stenosis. In 2012 I had a microdiscectomy and then a laminectomy 2 levels in 2022. I also have arthritis and bi lateral patella femoral in my knees. They denied my claim 2 months ago and yes I had medical evidence of all my surgeries and pain management for the last 16 years. I immediately appealed and it's now in reconsideration. During the 8 months I waited for my denial. I was diagnosed with stage 3 Rheumatoid arthritis. So that went in as new evidence. What I'm trying to say is. Is that it is very difficult to get SSDI. Even though I met multiple SSDI blue book listings. I was still denied. I was told I couldn't do my previous job but could adjust to new work. They even admitted I suffered from pain but it wasn't severe enough. So please, whoever reads this and is about to apply #1 good luck. #2 don't think just because you have a severe impairment. They will approve you right away. Trust me, I've been cut open multiple times and had more needles in me than a pin cushion. It's a rough road and painful but you have to be prepared #3 Even with an attorney and I've been working with one since the beginning its hard. #4 Humble yourself. Don't go into it thinking you're entitled to SSDI. You will be disappointed. #5 Make sure you give your attorney all the medical evidence you have as fast as possible. The longer you take the longer it takes SSDI to make a decision. The last thing I have to say is. Never give up. That's what SSDI wants you to do. Get an attorney and fight. God bless and I hope everyone that is looking for relief and peace of mind finds it.

I have 2 herniated discs in my neck that's pinching my spine and 3 herniated discs in my lower back. One of those disc have deflated. All due to a car accident and the car insurance isn't enough to cover the surgeries I need.

Can a mild abutment of the nerve from a herniated disc stand on its own as a disability if there is a good amount if pain?

Hi Richard, disability cases vary from person to person. We would suggest you to reach out to Social Security as they will be able to assist you in this matter.
