Interesting fact an O-1 Bird Dog (a modified Cessna 170) landed on the aircraft carrier USS Midway at the end of the Vietnam War. It was carrying a South Vietnamese Air Force Major Buang-Ly, and his family escaping from Vietnam.

I've never played any X-Plane games and I only casually play MSFS 2020. But I've been watching Austin's videos for years. You can always hear his passion for any subject he's talking about, hence why I listen to him despite having no involvement in aviation myself. As a long time hardcore sim racer myself, I wish each of the major sim racing franchises had such a charismatic, heavily community interactive figurehead like Austin!
@garyreed62373 ай бұрын
Give it a shot. Flying a plane is 100X more hardcore than racing. Xplane 12 has some of the faster military aircraft modelled. You can even buy an SR-71 Blackbird with in flight refueling also.

Both at the airline and the Air Force we had to file an alternate for any single runway island airport. And in the case of Bermuda it is, as you say, back to the good ol' USA. Unless, that is, you can buy a surplus Navy aircraft carrier, and make that your alternate, anchored a few miles offshore. That way you wouldn't get the sass from the Air Boss. Also, now I understand where all of my XPlane dollars have been going!!

The only dual engine failures I have ever had have been behind Pratt and Whitney engines. (I had a lot of engine failures as a manufacturer’s test pilot years ago) Also since Bermuda is a single runway I have never flown an aircraft to this airport without having enough fuel to go to an alternate. Disregarding weather, the flight in front of you can block the runway at anytime (like the genius in this video).
@ohwell2790 Жыл бұрын
Where and when did these dual engine failures happen? Plane type, location ,engine, out come? And as far as a plane that has over a 2,000+ plus 45 minute reserve range what airplane was that ? A lot of engine failures? How many exactly? BS

That's awesome @austinMeyers. Please keep up the good work. However, for those of who fly exclusively in VR, XP12 is almost impossible to enjoy, as per the lighting issue and shaky visuals.
