I find this fight's result to be odd. If the Astartes saw the enemy is only equipped for melee, they would not not close in. If they are faster, they will definitely prefer to stick to the ranged game, especially to avoid risking death away from an Apothecary's ability to recover their gene seed. Once they established the shield is the main issue, they toss a grenade. Then the Stormcast can either drop it and run or take crippling damage. The resulting stagger or loss of the shield would be just enough of an opening for the astartes to make a plasma shot (maybe overcharged) to seize a definite edge. Should they come into bladelock, the acid spitting could target the eyes of the armor, blinding the Stormcast or severely damaging their bones. I think ultimately my problem with this scenario is that while the Stromcast plays his role as the warrior of a thousand battles perfectly, the Astartes is not behaving like the elite tactical commando they are trained to be. This is especially true for a son of Sanguinius, who would be very dedicated to mastering the art of combat.

Shields are made for that kind of thing. There's only a handful of things any shield needs to worry about; Anything that functions like a pickaxe Lightning Intense heats of fire or plasma Ridicolous blunt forces like hammer swings Explosives aren't the best idea for cracking shields. That's why anti-tank ammunition pumps liquid metal at high velocity through the target or just sends a relatively large and sharpened hunk of metal through at even faster speeds. And tanks are basically cars covered in shields.

Yeah I’ve been seeing a lot of people complaining how Space Marines are “so much better then Stormcast Eternals, they should have won easily!” But when you compare the lore the Stormcast have two massive advantages over Space Marines: 1). As mentioned by Barokai, Stormcast Eternals are indeed Eternal. When their body is destroyed it is returned to Sigmar’s domain and literally reforged, allowing them to come back and fight another day. Not only does this mean that the Stormcast cannot truly be permanently defeated, but also (theoretically) if they kill a Space Marine then *his* soul will get yoinked and reforged into a new Stormcast Eternal since it’s a title reserved for the bravest warriors of order and light. Astartes Stormcast Eternals… now THAT’S a scary image! And 2). The Stormcast are so powerful that Chaos fears them. And I’m not joking, when the Stormcast we’re first unleashed on Chaos at the start of Sigmar’s Tempest, they struck Chaos so hard that the gods of Chaos were literally horrified just thinking about them! And sure Chaos in Fantasy/AOS isn’t the *exact* same as Chaos in 40K, but just thinking about that: the Chaos gods that laugh at the Adeptus Astartes and see them as just more mortals to corrupt and/or eradicate look at the Stormcast and go “Oh f***!!!” You have to be pretty powerful to strike fear into a *literal god!*

Yet majority of the other factions special units can kill them easily on occasion. How are the marines not all extinct by now. Also if they died to similar numbers like in the game, space marines would be needing to replace whole companies after each battle.

I think the lore can go a bit weird with the numbers considering at points hundreds of thousands of marines where taking on ten's of billions xenos,demons and heretics even though it was stated the average marines was the strength of 10 guardsmen. So in my head I think there are a hundred million marines and hundreds of trillions of guardsmen. Also in the game space marines are consistently one of the strongest factions and run about 40-50 models compared to other armies that can run 100+.

I can see a ground boi winning in melee but not likely. Space marine armor is like a second skin and is naturally used like an extension of oneself. Ground boi dies not have that.

regardless of who wins I liked this video more for the fact that they were both generic characters; not that I didn’t like the other videos it is very clear but instead that a space marine against the Master Chief or a librarian against Vader, would have me more intrigued to see a space marine against a generic spartan and a librarian against a generic jedi/sith

This was a very interesting comparison and video. Great job on the analysis. Though I feel you may have discarded the potency of the plasma pistol and power sword in the fight. Also it would make sense why the AOS primarch could beat a 40k Primarch because one is a science experiment made by man kinds finest and the other is a literal demigod which is fueled with magic powers and we all know how magic is a quick gate way to becoming over powered if there are not many fundamental rules in place, I am looking at you Skyrim.

People don't hate the SCE per se. It's just that they are the poster boys of Age of Sigmar, the "new" setting that killed the "old" fantasy setting. Old fans are mad because they liked fantasy, newer fans (but but "brand new") are mad because they like fantasy thanks to games like Vermintide/Total War Warhammer but came too late to the party, and new new fans don't understand why the hate because they arrived even later. And while they are pretty cool, the SCE have some fundamental problems, the main one being that they are basically Space Marines, but in not space.

I think the reaction time of the astartes would make the differnce. I really dont think a blood angel a chapter which is know for close combat prowess would allow himself disarmed against a mortal. The stormcast would swing and find the space marine move so quickly his arms would go missing in the ensuing flurry of strikes from a power sword.
