Retarding the cam timing will lower your compression ratio due to the intake valve closing later during the beginning of the compression stroke so of course its going to crank easier,but your going to sacrifice engine performance in the lower rpm range.this is not the fix for a hard starting problem.due to starter location they get terribly heat soaked thats why your cranking hard when warm.heat shielding on the starter and a higher cranking battery fixes the problem.

I can’t tell you enough how helpful this video is. Of course I couldn’t get my secondary over my exhaust pipe and the tiny spring cap on the primary for the one way bearing launched to the moon but no doubt helpful. A+ for your video.

Yes you are correct but if you don't want to have to put a huge battery in it this will fix it and get you on the trail some people don't mind losing a little performance now in one Can-Am I put two batteries in it and that did help some but yeah it is a poor design thanks for commenting and watching
